I decided to do a rosebud theme today for my tea. It's been a lovely day out and warmer, so I liked using the little plate with the green border, which is a favorite of mine.
I bought the teapot at my local antiques shop some years ago; it came with a delicate little sugar bowl and creamer. Patrick, the proprietor, who is from Ireland, said, "That's Mary Gray's tea set." I didn't know Mary Gray, but shortly afterward I read in a newsletter of the local Tuesday Club that Mary Gray, a longtime member, had died. I'm pleased to have her tea set and cherish it for her, now that she has had to leave it behind. I hope someday someone will cherish my china in turn.
