I had to use this old photo for today because I shot some birds today with the lens I bought for my upcoming trip I'm so nervous now as they were horrible! the quality was just not good. I bought a tamron 18-200 as a travel lens that would do it all but I really haven't been happy with the pics I've gotten! help....this is a huge trip and I don't want to be horribly disappointed in my pictures!
Scary about the lens - hopefully will just take some more time with it - but it gave you the perfect reason to post this adorable picture.

I'm getting use to a whole new camera, so I can relate. Although, I'm really happy with mine, there is just so much to learn about it. Where are you headed? Nice capture of the squirrel and good luck with your lens.

I use a Tameron 70-300 that I love. Most of my bird pictures were taken with it. But it did take so getting used to.

@moonmtn we are headed to Ireland in August!! @joansmor really? You love it? I'm struggling with whether to keep it or not. Its really more the close ups that I'm unhappy with so maybe it will be ok as the majority of shots will be landscapes. ugh..it was not expensive so I'm not out a lot! I just thought it solved my concerns!

You should start a discussion on the site here to question the uses of this lens.

Great capture. The thing with these zoom lenses is that you should not use them on their highest aperture (lowest number) they are sharpest if you stop them down 1 or 2 stops. So F/7.1 or F/8 with this lens. What lens did you take this squirrel shot with? I see 200mm with a F/2.8 sounds like a lens that's worth a lot more than the 18-200mm, you can''t expect the same results. Maybe you can return this and get a wide-angle for your landscape shots?

@leonbuys83 The squirrel shot was with my Nikkon zoom. Its definitely a more expensive lens. I have a nice wide angle too that I love, a tokina. But I really don't want to lug all of my lens across Ireland! I was trying to get a cheap multipurpose lens so I only have to bring one lens. And I know I can't expect too much from a $140 lens but I also do not want to be totally disappointed in my Ireland pictures. See my struggle?
