Start 'em young! by dide

Start 'em young!

This little guy was chopping in Rotorua on the weekend. He comes from a long line of woodchoppers and is 8 years old. Dad is giving him some tips and encouragement as he competes. Someone usually starts chopping the blocks for the little fellows, then they have a very low handicap, thus allowing them to compete against others in the under 15 age group. And he came in second place!
Wow what a great thing to get into young.. what a cute little axe he has.. fav for all

How great that he is encouraged in this sport by his dad. These days so many kids would have no idea what to do with an axe.

He looks as if he will make a champ one day!

Great action shot. I'm sure many countries around the world would insist on safely boots, goggles and goodness knows what else!

Great shot I believe children should be taught to use sharp tools at a young age. He is swinging that axe very well

Great action shot Dianne, well captured. Crikey, how many choppers are missing part of all of a foot? It looks very dangerous.
