We've had a busy day here today - 10 people for lunch, then the boys and Chook had a working bee out in the orchard. Jesse chopped down the apple trees and then dug out the stumps while Chook helped move them away with the tractor. Josh was levelling some big piles of clay left from a previous job where we had to take out a shelter belt of trees. I laughed at the image on the right...years ago, there used to be an advert on TV - it was called a 'bugger ad'. This advert showed a Toyota pulling out a fence post, which whistled out of the ground and 'flew' right over the truck. Hence the 'bugger'!
I weeded and helped mulch the vege garden then cleaned up the other garden ready to plant broccoli - only tiny gardens, so not such a big job! The chicken coup even got clean sawdust as the old lot became part of the garden mulch. Busy, busy!
I hope no utes were damaged in the making of this photo... The photo on the right reminds me of years ago my Dad pulled out some stumps and then put them on the back of his landrover and took them to an Uncles place .. on his return back home here was a stump in the middle of the road outside the local school.... he had traveled a few k's with it bouncing behind him... Very satisfying
@kathiecb we are just removing a few orchard trees. I am looking into planting about 4 almond trees but need to do more research on suitable varieties for this area.
