Controlled burnoff??? by dide

Controlled burnoff???

Last night, just on dark, the neighbours lit this huge stack of branches - and then the sparks caught the bamboo hedge on fire, resulting in a fire brigade callout! Not a very good image as I couldn't be bothered using the tripod.
Lovely patterns of the flames going over the hedge.

That's always what I worry about when anyone lights a fire. I hope nothing was seriously damaged! Nice shot of the 'event, tripod or not'!

@happypat about 25 years ago, the trend was to plant Leyland Cyprus as shelter belts. Unfortunately, they are all dying now with some kind of canker. This was a pile of already dead tees. In the next couple of weeks we are also going to take out a long line of the same.

Whew, good to hear the fire was contained, must've been a bit scary for a bit. Pity about all the cyprus trees, best out and replaced.
