Our tour group headed back to mainland NZ today. This is Julz and I with Toni the tour guide and owner of the hotel. Toni is an amazingly energetic, knowledgeable and happy person. She had us in fits of laughter as she regaled stories of life on the Chathams. She was also a very competent bus driver. On the first day, she told us the diesel generators would shut down at 10 pm so we’d best go to bed early! Not true! After that we believed most, but not all of her stories.
