Some of the NZ Primary School teachers were on strike today. It is a hard call to make a decision like that, but over the next few days, different regions are striking. It is not usual for me to be out on the streets rallying, but when you feel strongly about your workplace and the class sizes, you have to lend support. It's all about class sizes, paperwork, special needs children needing support and of course the money. Less and less people in NZ are choosing teaching as a career. Already there are huge shortages in some areas.
You could just as well be talking about America. We are going through all those same challenges. I do hope the powers that be come to your profession’s aid.
I certainly understand. We have the same problems. The teachers are so important and because of the low pay, having to buy supplies for the kids out of their own pockets. I do hope this helps.
I’m afraid it’s the same here, my daughter has just changed her job because it’s so stressful,I do so feel for all those who try so hard but feel their hands are tied and their heads are being hit against a brick wall. An eye catching collage.
Same here too Dianne, it’s a very hard job & they get no support plus some of the kids need some handling these days! Not an anviable job a5 all which is a shame!
Am with the discontent. Teachers don’t seem to get a fair deal anywhere...except perhaps in the private sector. I'm a volunteer at Paimpont's Primary School to give help and encouragement to children after school with their homework. It’s almost school for me too...as all exchanges are, of course, in French.
