Just around the corner from where we are staying are some huge rock faces. Yesterday, I stopped on my walk and watched two young women very skilfully climb right to the top. They were finding it hard work because of the heat of the rock and the very hot day. Other than that, they were very much in control of the situation. It was pretty much vertical and inspiring to be able to watch their skills and carefully planned moves.
Your POV shows the height and steep angle so well! The athleticism is quite demanding, and I admire them very much. My daughter is a rock climber, too.
@julzmaioro um - not for me! I thought the rock face at outward bound was hard, but nothing like what these two were doing. It was their third climb for the day.
Beautiful shot and rock textures. These ubsailors must be either crazy or very brave and perhaps bored of the daily routine. But they are definitely amazing to watch.
I can never understand why when they are roped up the rope dangles downwards. If she fell that rope isn’t going to save her...I must be missing something here! Not my cup of tea thank you very much!
@happypat does look crazy with the rope hanging down... she was being belayed by her friend on the ground who was roped in and feeding more rope to her as she climbed and clipped into fixed points on the face. If she fell, she would be stopped by a) by the friend on the ground and b) the carabiner anchored onto the face of the rock. I actually got photos of the other girl falling, but because it is a controlled situation she ‘only’ fell a couple of meters! Way too scary for me!
