The old homestead

We were travelling from Christchurch to Kaikoura today and stopped at St Anne's wildlife reserve for lunch. As we were driving out we noticed this abandoned old homestead nestled below the hills. This image shows how dry North Canterbury is - a sharp contrast to other areas of NZ that have been having torrential rain, floods and now a cyclone.

Fabulous scene. I love the shape and colour of the hills. The abandoned homestead is really picturesque too. I didn't know about the St Anne's wildlife reserve.
