Kawakawa leaf by dide

Kawakawa leaf

This is a leaf from a lovely small NZ native shrub. It has nice heart shaped leaves, but they are often chewed to bits by caterpillars. This plant was often used by Maori for medicinal purposes - it has antibiotic, anti-infammatory properties. It can be used as a herbal drink for digestion problems. It is still used in many balms and herbal teas.
Such a lovely shaped leaf, nice capture and presentation - interesting medical purposes as well !

The caterpillars know what’s good for them then! Good to know all that useful medical knowledge! I doubt we have them here sadly!
