We are living in a great time. In the last 10 years we have come so far in our technological advnaces, and it's exciting to see how things are so rapidly changing from year to year. It is also exciting to think where we will be in 10 more years. What will it be like? It's a great time to be alive. Then I look at things like this, and I think to myself, come on, couldn't we possible do a better job at cleaning up this mess? We are now wireless in so many areas, and yet our cities are cluttered with all these wires. What a mess. Could we possibly re-focus here and clean it up a bit?
I have a tool in Picnik that can remove those...kidding. I hear you--we are advancing so quickly, but it will be like a rubber band, I fear. These clouds are beautiful (behind all that wire noise)
If we'd clean up the mess, our pics would be that much more beautiful and amazing!! NEW MOTO..."LESS mess...MORE beauty!! haha...ok, maybe I got a lil carried away! :S
You should see some of the countryside Ive walked in this Summer. I've had some beautiful river shots with those ugly wires blotting beautiful skys :( Trouble is with wifi it pollutes in a different way and creates radiation beyond safe levels so theyre trying to calm that down now. We need some more communication tech advances that will bring about a healthier solution on all levels.
The sky in your photo Rick is really moody today but enhances the subject matter beautifully :)
Like the way you made this a polaroid! Good thought about the clean up idea but I doubt that will happen anytime soon! And though I do love all my techie toys, I am also a bit freaked out how much our world is becoming like the world in 1984...Big Brother *is* watching!!!
Great idea, but it will take a while. Rate changes and politics will get in the way. We have a beautiful country that is less beautiful because of this technological mess. PS Thanks for your comments. Most of my earlier stories were published in Sunday School periodicals and church devotionals. I am working on publishing my children’s stories. It’s a slow process – writing, editing, querying, re-writing, editing, querying again or re-submission.
There was a Nat'l Geographic's program on Japan, that they showed a temple that, no matter where you looked from, there were wires all over the scene. An older gentleman was painting the scene without wire one. I thought is a bit odd, until I saw what a local photo shop in Tacoma was doing to a picture of the old Pierce County Hospital, removing the wires, telephone poles, traffic from the picture, and what we do with digital pictures. When I saw it, the job was half done, would have recognized the building from reality.

Just had a conversation with my husband about that, and apparently there are sound reasons (at least for the power companies) for them not to. Don't know if I could tell you what he said though. I seem to gloss over when he gets all technical. :) Great shot.
I had a conversation last weekend with my sister about the very same thing. Even here, in the countryside, electrical wires get in the way of so many photos, to be honest i dont think i noticed it as much until i started taking an interest in photography. Nice shot Rick :)
You are so right, Rick! These wires often get in the way of taking a good shot of a view. LOL!!! Nice presentation too!
Thanks for always having helpful & interesting comments on my photos - really appreciate the feedback.
I've seen pictures of some place in India that is pretty mind boggling with thousands of wires everwhere. New places now have them underground so we don't see them.
I have always held an interest in the mess and the wires. Japan and India are great for these images. I prefer it the the stale rows of shopping malls.
Gosh, we really DO live in an awesome time period. I bet for you its even "awesomer" because you were probably alive way before all these cell phones and iphones and high tech digital cameras... you got to experience and observe how much technology has REALLY grown!!! even me... I'm seeing technology improve so much... gee... where WILL we be in 10 years? 20 years? 40 years?
Great shot, Rick! I totally agree!! What an eyesore when you go to take a fabulous photo and there are wires all over the place. Here in Michigan, they are working on burying wires and our phone lines have already gone fiber optic, underground. I'm sure it will take forever to get all of the wires taken care of though.
I so agree! So many times I'm trying to get a shot and there they are... wires and poles. I like your perspective in the photo... looking up.... and the framing adds to the chaotic feel. Nice one!
Great shot & I agree totally about the need to clean up the technology we have. I guess it's a bit like rebuilding the infrastructure of this great country!
