The Hidden Stairs (continued) by digitalrn

The Hidden Stairs (continued)

I stepped back, confused, slowly lowering myself to kneel on the floor. What is going on? I need to get behind that wall. I must find out what this is all about. I got up, went to the shed and retrieved a crowbar. On my way out of the shed I grabbed the battery powered lantern. I had no idea what I was going to encounter on the other side of that wall, and I wanted to make sure I had plenty of light. I re-entered the storage room and closed the door behind me. My Wife was surely sleeping, so I did not want to disturb her again. She already thought I was crazy, and that would only make matters worse. I carefully worked the claw end of the crowbar behind the board, applied a little pressure and it was soon pried free from the grip of the nails. I removed the one board, then shined the light inside. There they were, the same stairs I saw earlier. There was a plaster wall, but now the wall was behind the stairs. I needed more room so I grabbed the crowbar and removed another board. I grabbed my flashlight and peered inside. The stairs went up to the left. I couldn't see very far. It was very dark toward the top of the stairs, but the stairs appeared to make another left near the top. I need to get inside. I grabbed the lantern with my left hand and slowly began to maneuver my way inside. Once completely inside, I immediately sensed an intense chill, and my lantern went black. I froze, then just as quickly as it went black, the light was back on. I took a deep breath and readjusted my position. It was time to move up the stairs. I held the lantern high to illuminate what was before me, and it was then that my eyes immediately fell upon what appeared to be an outstretched hand. It looked as though it was reaching out to assist me, or perhaps guide me up the stairs. Was it real? Admittedly, I was somewhat reluctant, but I slowly began to reach out for the hand. I again began to have some reservations about this whole thing, but I am not the type of person to shy away from something like this, just because its a bit freaky. I slowly continued to reach for the hand. We finally touched, and the instant our hands met...

He should have followed his wife's example -- gone back to bed -- and definitely not be going into a different world behind the wall !!! Suppose he wants to get out and the hole he made is now gone? Scary thoughts......
