The Grandkids want to learn how to play the piano, so I went out and bought a cheep keyboard last week. I used to play for my own enjoyment years ago, so its been awhile. I am not at all that talented, trust me, but I do remember some of the basics. I was helping them with their first lesson, and afterwards I was playing around a bit, and thought I would use this as my photo for the day. Music is a universal language that knows no boundaries. You're left hand plays a combination of notes to form chords, and then when you add additional notes with your right hand you come up with a nice tune. Each of the keys on the piano has its own sound, but when the conditions are right and it all comes together, you have the makings for a beautiful song. The keys could represent people, people from all different parts of the world. Each person having their own unique qualities and characteristics.Together, just like the keys on a piano, with all their differences, if the siutuation was right, it could all come together to make a beautiful sound. Wouldn't that be great? Listen to this old song. I always loved it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taqLEjCVTdo&feature=related
My dad played that song on his guitar (among many other folk songs) and taught us all to sing with him. He usually sang the harmonies. Thank you for bringing up such a wonderful memory of the good times with family for me. :)
Music, the universal language ... I couldn't agree more Rick. I am from a large family and we grew up playing various different instruments. There was nothing that harmonised the family quite like our sessions of playing music together
Wonderful of you to share the gift of music with your grandkids Rick! Teaching them to have an appreciation for music is the gift that will truly keep on giving for their entire lifetime. Your picture and narrative are inspirational as always....you are a very gifted communicator!
love this picture--I played piano for several years and even took a class in college!! Unfortunately, none of my kids have the desire---my poor piano sits in silence :(
Very nice b&w photo. :-) My youngest daughters plays and I could listen to her all day. It's a wonderful talent to have that's for sure. :-) Your words are so true and nice memorable song. :-)
