A Gated Community

My Wife and I, including our grand-daughter Kassidy and the two puppies went out for a walk today. It was beautiful. While they walked ahead, I looked around for different photo opportunities. I was happy with several photos, but I really liked how this fence looked against the tree, and then on top of the fence they had three strands of barbed wire. The fence is around a cemetery, which reminded me why the have fences around cemeteries. People are dying to get in. I know, it's bad.
I've seen many fences around cemetaries, but the barb wire is a first. Great lighting and shadows on the tree.

ha!! love the title, and all the graphic lines here.

Haha...gated community...cemetery...(like the B&W)
March 20th, 2011
Thanks for the laugh! I also like the tree against the wire.
March 20th, 2011
Harhar--I always wondered why they had fences as well. Well, now I know! Great contrast in this--all the lines (:

I have never seen barbed wire used at a cemetary before this. If a person was trying to scale the fence they might die before they got over it and then they would be in the right place. Nice shot in B& W.

nice lighting! beautiful black and white photo!

March 21st, 2011
This is like a story in itself!
March 21st, 2011
a beautiful shot...kinda creepy....it is weird that there's barbed write around it!
March 21st, 2011
I love pictures of barbed wire! I don't know what it is. The lines, the texture? This one is great!
March 21st, 2011
Ha ha! You had a nice play on words and a good photo!
March 21st, 2011
Here's the only other cemetery joke I know: You know how many dead in that cemetery? (Rim shot) All of them.
March 21st, 2011

March 21st, 2011

March 21st, 2011
Great shot! Love the perspective and the B&W!
March 21st, 2011
as long as it's to get in and not out, right?? this is a pretty shot, too with the black & white...
March 21st, 2011
You just had to go there, didn't you?! Haha. When I glanced at this shot it reminded me of the tree that's all intertwined in the chain link fence in our backyard. We'll have to tackle that extraction one of these summers.
March 21st, 2011
Good b&W photo. there's something about cemeteries that sacred - that's probably why they have fences.
March 21st, 2011
LOL - nice textures and repetition here!
March 21st, 2011
haha - great shot.
March 21st, 2011
LOL! Love that you chose b&w for this shot- makes that fence look even more menacing :D
March 21st, 2011
It's a funny joke. (Meant sincerely-- not sarcastically.) But sad that people would vandalize graves so that they need a fence.
March 21st, 2011
What is it about barbed wire and fences that draws us?? This is great and I love the b&w.
March 21st, 2011
Sue
love the contrast, it has that man vs nature feel.
March 21st, 2011
Good detail. Sad they have to do it and I don't understand why they vandalize graves.
March 21st, 2011
LOL =D This is a really good shot...the barbed wire, the branches and the b&w. Love it!
March 21st, 2011
Very funny. That's a serious "keep out".
March 21st, 2011
::groan:: terrible joke, but great b/w. It's like a barbed wire sandwich.
March 21st, 2011
I agree with Matt lol
March 21st, 2011
Ouch. It looks more difficult to get in than to get out.
March 21st, 2011
Deb
I probably couldn't have resisted writing that joke either...I do like this in B&W. My eyes are drawn to the different lines and textures.
March 21st, 2011
Haha, wow, that's some security for a graveyard
March 21st, 2011
Great shot...in the b&w it actually reminded me of a prison I once drove by.
March 21st, 2011
Haha - funny. I haven't seen barb wire around a cemetary before either.
Great shot. Love the b&w here, perfect!
March 22nd, 2011
Haha. Love this in b&w just do not think colour would give the same feel.
March 23rd, 2011
this is one stunning shot... love your caption!
March 23rd, 2011
haha I love the joke!! I like the contrast between the fence and barbed wire and the tree, very symbolic too.
March 23rd, 2011
Great shot-- I thought the pole holding the barb wire was the barrel of a shot gun for a moment though. The joke wasn't that bad. Made me smile.
March 23rd, 2011
'Bad' is not the word! A real groan of a joke!
March 23rd, 2011
Bhooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
March 24th, 2011
This is a great shot! I love that you chose to do it in B&W also, works very well for the subject matter.
March 25th, 2011
HA, I laughed outloud at your title after I read your description...very clever! I do love the stark b/w image though!
March 26th, 2011
Great shot, like it in B&W.
March 26th, 2011
Bahaha! Really bad pun, really great photo. Love both! ;-)
