Our Life's Lenses by digitalrn

Our Life's Lenses

Our perspective on life depends on how we look at it. Some of us enjoy looking at life through a telephoto lens. We tend to focus more on things in the distance, perhaps more in the future sense. Some of us prefer looking at life through a macro lens. We tend to look closely at all things, all the little details, and then we may find ourselves unable to see beyond all those little events in life, and we become "stuck." Then some of us enjoy using the wide angle lens to look at life. We prefer looking at the big picture. We look at how everything seems to work together, perhaps how we can make changes, not only in our lives, but also in the lives of others. Yet when it is all said and done, I believe most of us enjoy using all three lenses. We try to find that happy medium, and that is proabably the most healthiest approach. That is just my opinion. Have a great evening.

Nice shot!

Sue
once again BRAVO on the words, I like you perspective, and thinking. great shot for the numbers theme!
April 8th, 2011
Very cool analogy! Nice comparison! That gives me something to think about, since I'm not sure which lens I am.
April 8th, 2011
Wonderful words of wisdom!! Great macro shot, too!
April 8th, 2011
Awesome thoughts and image. I love the idea you presented.
April 8th, 2011
Good shot Rick and I am the three lens guy. Good thoughts
April 8th, 2011
Great analogy! You’ve got me thinking now.
April 8th, 2011
Great view on life, Rick! And a great macro shot!
April 8th, 2011
Love the picture and the anaology. I think I am mostly a wide angle lens person but I hardly ever use one! lol
April 8th, 2011
Nice analogy for us photoholics. I always use a variety of lenses - each one brings a new and exciting perspective to life.
April 8th, 2011
Your words are very fitting, observant, and wise. Be One with the lens, but don't hide behind it.
April 8th, 2011
Well, we have to be able to explorer life in all ways possible. Depending from where we are, we have to be wise to choose our lens or they might break it, and even worse, they might make you break, if you know what I mean.... I hope I made sense trying to use metaphors, but you did it first.
I like your lens
April 8th, 2011
Love the way your metaphor works. I guess the most difficult challenge for any of us, in photography or Life, is to know when to switch lenses.
April 8th, 2011
Nice photo and reflection on life/photography!
April 8th, 2011
Awesome shot and great sentiments to go with it!
April 8th, 2011
Nice reflection. Nice shot also.
April 8th, 2011
Very eloquent reflections Rick. Well said.
April 8th, 2011
Once again, wise words and an amazing photo to go with them! Your lens analogy got me thinking about filters too. I guess they are not used as much as they used to be because photo editing probably took their place. I had colored ones, one that made the light split into rainbows, one that added a hazy affect around the edges and another that put a star pattern on candle flames and lights. Seems like there's more analogies to consider when filters are introduced on to the lens. Maybe that could be part 2 of your commentary...

Awesome
April 8th, 2011
wow, another clever idea!
April 8th, 2011
I think I'm the macro because sometimes I get hung up on the little things.
April 8th, 2011
nice perspective and a cool theme photo entry, rick....
April 8th, 2011
Great idea!
April 8th, 2011
Love it! Great idea for the theme too!
April 8th, 2011
What a perfect shot for those incredible words of wisdom. I hope I can do all three in life and photos (even though I don't have a wide angle lens).
April 8th, 2011
I love your thoughts. You are a great writer!
April 8th, 2011
Great photo. I am a telephoto kind of girl and my husband is a wide angle lens guy. As frustrating as it can be on occasion it work out because we help each other see things in a different way.
April 8th, 2011
A fave, love the thoughts that go with it!
April 8th, 2011
Beautifully said and beautifully captured!!! You're right...our lens choice is based on our current state of mind along with our "vision". A wise man you are sir...
April 8th, 2011
Rick, your wise words are always so refreshing, and thought provoking..
April 8th, 2011
wow...you could write a book combining your photos and your comments as sort of a "life according to me" book. it'd be awesome!
April 8th, 2011
your little note is so thought provoking and so apt
April 8th, 2011
You did a great job here. Rick. wonderful theme shot & the analogy of the lenses with life is brilliant.
April 8th, 2011
Thank you for the words of wisdom. I like the angle of the lens in the photograph and that it is in b&w.
April 8th, 2011
So true! Neat shot!
April 8th, 2011
That's an interesting observation and perspective, I never thought of it like that. My husband like to step back and photograph things and I tend to zoom in...hmm....maybe we balance each other out.
April 8th, 2011
nice pic
April 8th, 2011
So very true. Your focus and detail in this are fantastic.
April 8th, 2011
Very nice shot
April 8th, 2011
And so true
April 8th, 2011
I look forward to your commentary as much as your photos. Excellent.
April 8th, 2011
Nicely said and photographed Rick. Your theme shots are always enhancements of a simple concept.
April 8th, 2011
this is nice. And i love how you describe your pics.
April 8th, 2011
Your photo so perfectly illustrates your point....very well written and captured Rick!
April 8th, 2011
:)
April 8th, 2011
faved for the caption. you are so wise and so intuitive. your analogy of people's view of life through lenses... just brilliant. I had never thought of it that way. I definitely use all three. I am always thinking ahead and fearing my future, wanting to make the right decisions up front. I'm always looking closely at myself and my surroundings...almost too much that I stress myself out. and I am also a "wide angle lens".... exactly the way you described it. again, brilliant approach. I am going to document this caption on paper so I can have it forever.
April 8th, 2011
Cool and perfect theme shot....I have yet to come up with something. I think this is the best one I've seen so far...nicely done!
April 8th, 2011
nice macro
April 8th, 2011
great theme shot! :)
April 8th, 2011
@lauren211 Does this mean I'm published? That's neat Lauren.
April 8th, 2011
Perfect theme shot! I would happy to know how to operate one lens without glasses out in the sun! :-) Happy Friday!
April 8th, 2011
@digitalrn - haha sure :p
April 8th, 2011
great shot. .
April 9th, 2011
Fun shot! Great theme shot!
April 9th, 2011
Great angle and close up- pretty cool idea Rick!
April 9th, 2011
Nice close-up.
April 9th, 2011
So true! Nice shot!
April 9th, 2011
Excellent close up and great theme entry.
April 10th, 2011
Lovely commentary on a great theme entry
April 11th, 2011
Great close up, and nice words too.
April 11th, 2011
Sadly, I am such a macro girl (in life)....need to stop over-analyzing.....
Great pic Rick!
April 12th, 2011
I'm obviously well rounded - I love telephoto for zooming in on life, wide angles for seeing the big picture and macro because I love to see little details. Love how you always add something thoughtful and often thought provoking comments.
April 12th, 2011
Fantastic close up and LOVE the words! You're completely right!
