A Sunday Walk by digitalrn

A Sunday Walk

Some of you have been "shooting from the hip" so today I tried "shooting from the side window" and I was pleased to see that it turned out pretty well. Trust me, my eyes did not leave the road, and my hand was on the steering wheel at all times, besides, the road I was on was very quiet. I've tried this before, and usually I end up totally missing the mark, or taking off their head, but this time it worked out in my favor. We had a lot of rain today, and in between the down pours, this young Mennonite woman obviously wanted to enjoy a brisk walk in the fresh air. She was walking at a good pace too. In between the rain, it was a fairly nice day. Hope you all had a wonderful Easter Sunday.

I like that you’ve made her dress stand out. That house in the background almost looks like a dollhouse.
April 25th, 2011

Very cool photo! I love the tones in this!
April 25th, 2011
Wonderful capture. Now get your eyes back on the road. :-)

I like how the processing highlights her from the background. I find it a little comical that she's got the plastic bottle in her hand, knowing how devout to live the simple life the Menonites can be. I love their devotion and bravo to her dodging the raindrops to enjoy God's creation. Great capture.

Couldn't do much focusing when shooting out the widow and driving. you got her right on..I always thought the Mennonites only wear dark clothing or is it the Amish who do?

@bruni Yes, typically the Amish will wear dark clothing, purples, black, etc. and depending on the order of their sect, some of the women's dresses vary as well.

Actually what I like about this shot isn't the woman, it's the Mennonite home on the far right. Kudos to you for 'shooting from the hip'

Fantastic! The wind caught in her dress, the colorization, the look on her face--all make a terrific photo, suitable for framing, I'd say!
May 1st, 2011
I really like this with its muted colours - she vaguely resembles Gladys Presley, Elvis's mum and looks 1950's!
