I just wanted to share this natural phenomenon with you all! I am fascinated by these ice volcanoes and apparently this year's formations are the best display for ten years.
For more information on how these are formed here's a link to the park's blog: http://www.parkreports.com/parksblog/?p=4822
I also found some great photos by a fellow Belleville photographer (not a mere amateur like myself!) - http://blog.dannysheppard.com/2014/01/presquile-ice-volcanoes.html?utm_source=BP_recent
Here are a couple of shots I took on Monday...but they really don't do it justice:
Just wondering if anyone else has visited this year or anyone planning to? Would love to see your photos!
NICE Wish I could get up there. Hubby is on vacation next week so if we don't hit Pennsylvania then maybe a trip back to Kingston and Prince Edward County....and Bellville :)
Thanks for the link to the information on ice volcanoes I saw them from the train last week as I passed by Lake Ontario (here's my photo: http://365project.org/serenebarb/365/2014-02-03 ) and was curious about them; I don't live by the lake so I haven't witnessed this before.
@k1w1 Hope you have fun on vacation! If you do end up heading this way let me know - there are also some good ice volcanoes on the NW shoreline of Prince Edward County (west of Consecon) and some small ones at Sandbanks.
@serenebarb Yay! Thanks for sharing your photo - lovely elevated view of them. I only heard about them at the weekend from friends who had just visited them...and I seriously thought they were pulling my leg!
