Two lines - interesting effect

How to take a 2D .gif file and give it a convincing 3D effect with the addition of two white lines.

Please bear in mind that the gifs will take a little while to download but I think that the overall effect is interesting (however, I can't think of anything more than a trivial application for it). I suppose that you could do it for any 2D picture file where there is a given depth to the shot and you have some form of foreground interest that you could isolate.

Enjoy it nevertheless!

You know you can save a series of pictures in GIMP as a .gif file? I've drawn gifs that work and was going to show a student how to build a gif from a series of shots taken on continuous, but didn't get the chance.

Wow, pretty cool. I guess the brain is easily fooled by depth.

Awesome! I have to try this with a single photo to see if I can get a similar effect! Anybody tried it yet?
