Equipment Update.

Hello Fellow 365ers , A while back I added an article here about equipment. Well, having looked around for simply ages I found the camera theatre is indeed a very complex place to go to these days.
Basically, what I needed was a good camera where I didn’t have to carry with it a bag of lenses only to find out whilst I was out and about that I had the wrong lens with me for what I wanted to photograph. There have been numerous times where I’d missed an opportunity because I just didn’t have the right lens attached to my camera or worse still the day I needed my zoom lens I hadn’t fancied carrying the extra weight so I left at home.
So, after much reading and viewing You Tube reviews until I fell asleep I have taken the plunge and purchased a Nikon Coolpix P950.
A bridge camera, in the camera world where bridge cameras appear to be becoming extinct. The Nikon 950 suited all of my needs. There is a P1100 but it’s bigger and heavier so I ruled i out. Even though some reviews do not speak well of the 950 and yes it does have limitations it in the short time I have had it ( a few weeks ) has really brought back the fun element of getting out there and just taking photographs. It has more then enough Zoom for any situation all in a ‘one have all camera’.

I have a Canon D530 SX powershot which is perfect for throwing in my car just in case. It works pretty well and even posted a photo recently that I received favorable reviews. I’m all for a camera without the extra baggage and will use my new Z50 II mirrorless or D850 for the heavy lifting.
Enjoy your new camera! Looking forward to seeing your pics!

Interested to hear this, having chipped in to the discussion :-)
The fun hopefully outweighs the limitations - there may be some workarounds - I only just found [refound?] some of the menus on my L840 recently - having had it for years!

bridge cameras are brilliant for this - I'm out on my quad bike and have to be able to grab and shoot whatever I see and fast - could be macro, a bird, or a koala right up high and my bridge cameras always meet the challenge
