Is the 365 community aware of the senseless dolphin slaughters happening in Taiji, Japan?

August 31st, 2010
The Secret Is Out. Spread the Word.
The Cove exposes the slaughter of more than 20,000 dolphins and porpoises off the coast of Japan every year, and how their meat, containing toxic levels of mercury, is being sold as food in Japan and other parts of Asia, often labeled as whale meat. The majority of the world is not aware this is happening. The focus of the Social Action Campaign for The Cove is to create worldwide awareness of this annual practice as well as the dangers of eating seafood contaminated with mercury and to pressure those in power to put an end to the slaughter.

Thanks for you thread. We recently had a program shown here in UK about this very thing. Animal welfare is one of my main 'get on a box and shout' things! It makes me cry and almost be physically sick when I see such things.....all we can do is make people aware, too much goes on unseen, all strength to you Megan.

I agree Cherrill. Regardless who in the governments of the world are in charge, the people ultimately can stand up and make a difference nomatter what. We far outnumber them.
It is sickening, like you said, but it is comforting to see how many views this post is getting. The 365 community could easily take this information and sweep nations with it.
I believe there are still many places who've never heard.

Just saw this movie. Very moving and sad. I've been telling people about it, but so many hear what it's about and say they can't watch that kind of movie. As much as I try to tell them that it offers more than just the brief slaughter scene. Btw, I found out about from your post back in August and just got around to renting it. I bought it so I can loan it to friends and family in hopes it will help educate bring some awareness to this needless killing. Thanks for sharing Meghan! @uhohmegazor
