...to want to brag that i got a Tokina 11mm - 16mm f/2.8 ATX Pro DX AF lens yesterday?? i can't help it, i feel like i just had a new baby, or something. i'm really not an ass, i promise. i am set to shoot a christmas parade tomorrow and am thinking a wide angle would be really fun to use, but i've never shot with one before! thoughts?
a notorious online reviewer (ken rockwell) said this might just be the best wide angle lens for its quality and price point. always wanted it but sadly it won't AF on my d3000. :)
@laceyjogautreau - AH! You just made my day. Its been sitting in my Amazon shopping cart for weeks now. I'm just not sure if I should do it. I was thinking of getting another prime (perhaps the 85mm). PLEASE let me know what you think. I really really really don't need anyone to talk me into it......but I'm looking for an excuse to buy it. :P

@nellycious Arnel, that is sad! i looked and it is an IF lens, which i just had to look up. when i said it was an AF lens, does that mean it would have been an auto-focus lens only, or do AF lenses also have a manual focus capability? anyway, the lens i have has both capabilities..maybe worth it to get if you don't mind manual focusing with it all the time?

@crappysailor i haven't had a chance to get out and shoot with it (i'm going crazy!), but just from shooting indoors with it, i am ridiculously excited about it. The angle of view is insane, and the clarity of the glass is exquisite. i will fill you in further after my parade shoot tomorrow, but right now, i am super happy i got it.
@laceyjogautreau yes, it'll AF and MF all canon dslrs, but sadly for the entry level nikons (which do not have the motors built into them to turn the tokina's AF mechanism), as you said, it will be a fully manual affair. but i guess it'll be worth it though. :) show us some pics once you get to test it? :D
