Which Collage Maker Software?

August 4th, 2015
I'm not sure if I'm supposed to put things like this on here but I'm looking for a little help if that's ok?

I'm a member of a 'fledgling' Photography Club which has been running for a while, that has had a few ideas, but now that we are almost 60 strong it's unfair and really not practical to leave everything to the lady that set up the Club. Most of the members were complete beginners, or at least had little knowledge on how to switch their camera from auto to manual. An informal 'committee' is being set up to share the load, come up with new ideas, new suggestions and new ways of learning. I want to get involved and I think I have some really good ideas (mainly because I am part of the 365Project gang) and one of my ideas is for everyone to learn how to make collages, then give a theme for people to work on (just like MFPIAC). The trouble is that I only know of Picasa and Picture Maker Pro as free apps that they might be able to use.

Any suggestions with regard to free software apps for making collages? What do you use? What would you recommend? I could just google this, but I have no way of knowing whether an app is any good. Any help from you guys would be very much appreciated - plus it will mean I can try a different app too!

I use Picasa on my computer to edit most of my photos. It has a good collage maker, but it's basic, no fabulous effects or anything.

FastStone is a good processing/editing program which is free to download (you are just asked for a one-off voluntary donation initially). It comes with a how-to guide within the program. I've been using Picasa or PicMonkey for collages and just also found out how to make them on FastStone

I use ribbet for all my processing and collages I find it very simple to use I learn as go along and if I make a mistake it can be undone or at the very end discarded and the original put back into your file. It is also free for most processing including collages http --www.ribbet

Someone suggested Pixlr.com/express a while ago and I've been using it ever since. Very simple (and free!) and has a lot of layouts to choose from.

Picmonkey is what I've used. Free and simple. Challenge them to join 365! I think its what has helped my photography the most! Id love to join a club but its the night kids swimming lessons are.

My only experience has been Picmonkey- love it - a breeze to use their layouts or create your own.

I love Picasa for collages. I use Lightroom and Photoshop for processing my shots, but only Picasa for collages.

I agree with the recommendations for Picmonkey. I've used Picasa but had to remove it as it was doing wonky things with my photos and saving them. Probably just a toggle in settings but I couldn't find them.

Along with Picasa and Ribbit on my desktop computer, I use MultiFrame and Frametastic on my iPad.

Picmonkey is very simple. I use it to teach my 4th graders how to make collages. It is limited but it is a good place to start.

I use PicCollage and FotoRus. They were both free when I got them for my iPhone. Hopefully, they still are free.

I use the Diptic app. It lets you have different shapes for the “cells” of the collage.
