Have any of you ever taken a photo and, when viewed through the camera, thought it was a lousy shot, but once you edited it, it turned out to be pretty cool? I've done this a few times and was then grateful that I hadn't trashed it right away. I almost did that with this photo.
This taught me a valuable lesson...don't trash it on the camera! Now I wait until I've loaded my photos on the computer before deciding which ones to keep and which ones are a total bust.
If you've had a similar experience, show us the masterpiece you created out of something you thought was a mistake.
I did it with this shot which is sooc - when i uploaded it I thought it was cool but it was a complete accident as people can see if they read the comment that goes with it on my page:
When I took this one I absolutely hated it and was going to delete it but I needed a picture for that day. Now the picture has grown on me, lol. It's still not very "good" but I'm glad I didn't delete it
good move. I almost never delete on the camera anymore for that exact reason. You just don't know what you have until you get it on to your computer. Here's one I almost threw away. I hated it at first but now I really like the final result. Graininess and all.
I was taking some pictures for a plumber of a remodeling project he had done. The lighting in this bathroom was terrible, and this faucet was actually supposed to be silver. I was going to throw it out, but then decided to make the best of it because it had a gorgeous water drop coming out of it.
I'm oftentimes surprised with some of the stuff I get when viewing them on my laptop (of course there are also times I think I've gotten something good and then see it properly and am disappointed)
YES! I've so almost thrown away several. I didn't even SEE this one when I shot it, I almost thought the whole idea was a bust. I was actually trying to catch a whole lot of dandelion seeds going across the screen and this is what I actually caught. And in focus to boot!! wow.
on the camera it looked too dark and not nearly as colourful as it does on a large screen, but luckily I have learnt that some shots do turn out better than expected :D
Unless I know that the pic is a total waste, i.e. out of focus, or totally buggered composition, I leave them until I can look at them on the computer. It's amazing how many pictures I've saved by some judicious editing.
I did not like the color version of this photo at all! The lights on the field were those terrible orange ones. When I saw the black and white version though....
One of my favorite all-time shots!
Yes, and now I have an even harder time deleting pictures, haha. This one happened by accident, the ISO was up wayy too high. But after comparing it all of the "good" shots, I left it as is. Now it's one of my favorites in my project. =)
I allways keep the shots I took, untill I can view them on the PC , unless they are really over/under-exposed or unintentionally blurry/messed up.
You can`t apreciate the full quality of the shot on your camera`s screen.
I almost binned this shot earlier today when stood at the pond snapping the kids throwing sticks in the water , but when i put it on the pc and played with it i now love it !

Had lens flare, cap in the corner and it didn't look right in colour. With a bit of tlc and careful cropping :-)
