Roll Call!

March 23rd, 2020
I take great comfort in this site during our shared global pandemic experience. It would be nice to put faces to the names of my friends here on 365.
Snap a selfie and post to this thread . Let us know where you are from and how you are faring.

I am lucky to have access to the woods behind my cabin ( New Jersey , USA) for hiking or walking every day. We have tons of supplies for our animals and enough food for us. I am grateful for photography and this site!
March 23rd, 2020
This one I "took" not so long ago - me adjusting to teaching online classes, playing with digital backgrounds on Zoom.

March 23rd, 2020
@vera365 this is such a great one, Vera!
March 23rd, 2020

Nice selfie and great idea! We all need more ways to connect "face-to-face" these days. I live in Illinois, and I'm thankful for technology to keep connected with coworkers, friends, and family.
March 23rd, 2020

Hey Hey!!
All the way from sleepy little New Zealand and about to head in to a 4 week total lock down. Woohoo!!!
This is going to be one hell of a ride...may we all come out of it unscathed and just as weird

March 23rd, 2020
I'll play along! Sue Hecker from the fringe of the Minneapolis, Minnesota, metro area. I usually only take a selfie when I've done something new in the way of hair color, so this is a rare photo of the hair God gave me.

March 23rd, 2020
@featherstone26 I love your hair! My grey has to stay as long as the salons are closed. I am learning to just go with it. Lol
March 23rd, 2020
@graemestevens Graeme! You are not scary at all! Love seeing your actual face!
March 23rd, 2020
@karasoo2 beautiful! So happy to “meet you face to face”!
March 23rd, 2020
From the archives - in Sydney - currently still working in the preschool as they remain open in N.S.W for those who need it. Have enough wine, loo paper and food - :)

March 23rd, 2020
ok this is moi at my nephew's wedding last year. With me are my sister-in-law Galina, brother John and sister Angela.. Such strange days ahead..in New Zealand we are now in a lockdown from thursday this week for a month. Feels terribly surreal. Such a defining moment in our time .. our history....
March 23rd, 2020
@mzzhope Hi Hope, great idea for a thread, I was persuaded to take what is possibly my first ever selfie. Like you I live with my back to the wilderness, in my case the Pyrenees mountains in France. We have been in confinement for a week but we are still allowed out to walk our dogs. We are so lucky to be where we are. Jasper and I wish all 365ers and their closest the very best.
March 23rd, 2020
I don't normally look this glam, hair's usually frizzy, I wear glasses and very rarely any, nevef mind this much, make up.

But this 365 me! I live on South England's coast, have a severe photography addiction, and need suggestions for other hobbies to keep me occupied.

March 23rd, 2020
Well, this is me... My husband and I live in a tiny community in western Montana, USA. I love art, music, poetry, photography, reading, animals, mountains, etc. etc. Okay! Enough about me other than that I don't like taking selfies but thought Hope had a great idea for helping us all get better acquainted and feel less isolated during this global coronavirus crisis. Thanks for the invite @mzzhope! Looking forward to seeing many new faces. P.S. Had to "soften" this photo before I had courage to post it! lol

March 23rd, 2020
I do lots of selfies :) Here's one from rainbow month. I'm in Ontario, chilling indoors with my cat Precious, for the most part.
March 23rd, 2020
@mzzhope What a fun idea for a thread right now! Thanks for doing this. I'm in Chicago and this image was taken by friends who were visiting Jim and me in early December at a rooftop bar on the site of the original settlement that became Chicago. I love photographing the city, but like everyone else, am sheltering in place for the foreseeable future. Hoping we are all safe and healthy at the end of this ordeal!
March 23rd, 2020
North Carolina. All is well here.
March 23rd, 2020

Live in Massachusetts in a suburb of Boston. Our governor just issued a stay at home advisory except for groceries and such.

My daughter ( who is 8 months pregnant) and SIL who live in Maryland have the virus. SIL is well now and daughter so far is doing quite well with a mild case.

I don't like doing selfies but played with the studio lighting on my phone for this one so I could participate in this great discussion started by @mzzhhope. And yes, I confess to a bit of wrinkle softening :)
March 23rd, 2020
@annied beautiful Annie! Can’t believe you are still working but little ones can keep us hopeful and sane. Stay safe.
March 23rd, 2020
@brigette Beautiful!! it is such a surreal time. But thank goodness for technology to help keep us from feeling totally isolated.
March 23rd, 2020
@30pics4jackiesdiamond this is such an artistic selfie! Just gorgeous. How about giving sketching a try? I did that before I found photography and am thinking of giving it a go again. Tired of rearranging my clothes closet! Lol
March 23rd, 2020
@bjywamer Hi Barb! You are beautiful! So nice to see you. Montana is on my travel list. I have heard how beautiful it is there.
March 23rd, 2020
@spanishliz love your selfies! And your kitty!!!
March 23rd, 2020
@taffy Hi Taffy! Glad you are doing well! Bet you have tons of excellent city shots in your archives to share. I love your beautiful city.
March 23rd, 2020
@homeschoolmom Cute!!! this selfie made me smile. Love the processing! Glad all is well with you Lisa.
March 23rd, 2020
@jernst1779 You look chic and mysterious! So glad to meet you!!! keeping your family in my prayers!
March 23rd, 2020
@laroque Hi Tim! So very nice to meet you! And Jasper! I am going to enjoy following your project !
March 23rd, 2020

I took this a couple of days ago. This is me and our new kitten practicing isolation. As from tomorrow, here in NZ we are officially in lockdown.
March 23rd, 2020
@yorkshirekiwi we are in lockdown here too. Your kitten is so cute. My animals are keeping me sane right now!
March 23rd, 2020
Here is @bkbinthecity Brian and Melody!
March 23rd, 2020

Greetings from Eastern Pennsylvania USA where we're in the same boat as many of you. Most non-essential businesses are closed, schools are closed, there is limited access to municipal offices and doctor's services, most restaurants have converted to take out to survive and so far, on a personal note, my husband has been able to work since he is self-employed and in places where there are no other people around when he's working. We are adjusting to limited food shopping, drive through services at the bank, waving at the neighbors from across the street to say hi, and attending church on-line! I'm actually quite peace-filled and believe that while it may take some time and ingenuity, we will make it through this world-wide trial. I'm trying to motivate myself to tackle projects like finally getting to all those boxes in the attic and sorting them since I can't go anywhere but I'm having more fun spending extra time on 365! I remain happy, healthy and hopeful and wish the same for all of you!
March 23rd, 2020
@mzzhope You know I really like you when I post a selfie for you!
March 23rd, 2020
Here I am trying to do my best "wild eyes" ala Man Ray and Salvador Dali:

I'm at home in Seattle. The bakery I bake at is closed for at least two weeks. We tried take-out only, but our customers love each other so much that we couldn't keep them apart even while standing in line. Hopefully we can reopen in a few weeks once my bosses figure out a better way to keep the pick up orders more... orderly. Right now I'm trying my best not to bake too many treats at home. My family of three can only eat so much haha.
March 23rd, 2020
@olivetreeann hahaha! I am honored.. I like you too,Ann! Glad you are doing well!
March 23rd, 2020
@stephomy awesome wild eyed selfie! I love Seattle.Now...if your bakery decides to do mail order ...I am ready and waiting to be your first customer!
March 23rd, 2020
Hi from Michigan USA! Just ordered today by our governor to stay at home. So that we will do. Trying my hand at some advanced baking to pass time. Art projects as well. I was born into a family of eight children. Went briefly to college then became a cosmetologist. Got married had my family and worked jobs that allowed me to be at home with them. I retired from a funeral home where I did graphic work ( prayer cards videos) and some outreach work. My husband retires March 31 so now he is off at least til March 30! I guess we are getting an early taste of how life will be when we are together all the time. We have our moments. I desperately miss my 15 month old grandson. I've never been away from him this long since his birth. It's so hard😔 365 helps in all of this though! Thanks friends!

March 24th, 2020
From the archive because since almost 10 days I didn’t brush my hair ! 😂😂😂😂
I’m Corinne, French, but living in Switzerland for 15 years now.
I’ve studied law but today my main activity is making collages, I’ve done several exhibitions and slowly I’m starting to sell my arts.
Ready to face the quarantine with my husband working at home and my two big girls because schools and university are closed.
I’m lucky to have a garden, so after 10 days of confinement it is okay.
Thanks Hope for this cool initiative ;) it good to put a face on some name !

March 24th, 2020
@mzzhope
posting from Eastern West Virginia. We've got a stay at home order in place now; I've been home for a week and did three jigsaw puzzles in (almost) as many days, breaking off only to read the latest stats from around the world (and plant cabbages, peas and lettuce). Strangely with all this extra time, I'm quite behind on 365 postings...Am now working on classes that must be taught online as of next week. Husband was deemed an "essential worker" and was issued a document titled Travel Pass today, not something I ever contemplated in these United States. We are extremely grateful that stay at home for us includes almost unlimited outdoor space.
March 24th, 2020
@jackies365 hoping you get to see your little grandson soon! My husband and I are retired and it does take some adjusting too. But it is mostly great! It’s awesome that you have hobbies like baking ( yum) to keep you busy.
March 24th, 2020
@cocobella You are beautiful! Oh,wow! I would love to see your work. Do you have a website?
March 24th, 2020
@francoise oh this is a lovely selfie.Good luck with your online classes.Enjoy the great outdoors and tell hubby to stay safe!
March 24th, 2020
So great to "meet" everyone. We're all in this together, it's a lovely and powerful reminder. Thanks @mzzhope!
March 24th, 2020
OK, I'll play although I generally try and stay on the back side of the camera.

From Southwest Illinois, USA, just across the Mississippi River from St. Louis, MO. A grumpy face from my exile, entering my second week of work-from-home. I've set up an office of sorts in the basement, where I don't bother the wife or my 20 y/o son who's home from a study abroad in London.

March 24th, 2020
@lsquared hi Larry! Nice to see you! Make sure you come up from that basement to get some fresh air once in a while!
March 24th, 2020
An old post...

March 24th, 2020
@mzzhope I am actually happy to be still working...the number of kids turning up is getting smaller and I think will likely be zero by next week...we are working at getting some packages ready for parents who may need to keep their kids busy but..they're only 4 year olds and for them it is learning through play and social interaction...bit hard when you're stuck at home.
March 24th, 2020
One from the archives, when we had the freedom to go wherever we wanted. I'm Swiss with some Austrian roots. Living in a little city in Central Switzerland, right now I'm busy working from home. I love the outdoors, and beeing creative. Be safe and stay healthy my dear 365 friends. Greetings from Switzerland.
March 24th, 2020
Me and Arky are both camera shy so very few photos of the two of us but found this grainy shot in the archives. Taken with the mobile the day before I joined 365 almost 2 years ago.

Usually at work during the week but at home today with Arky as all my clinics have been cancelled and waiting to be redeployed to the local hospital.
March 24th, 2020

I am currently in Huntsville, AL. I live in Lees Summit, MO but my husband and I are on a one year trip visiting all the national parks. In 2019 we visited 50 of them. Now we are waiting to go to Lenoir City, TN (near the Smoky Mountains) for the month of April.

So far we are both healthy. We are avoiding people but we are going outside to walk, ride our bikes and kayak when those options are available.

If anyone would like another friend I am looking for more people on this site. I just started back up again this year after a few years break.
March 24th, 2020

I'm Milanie Matthews from Ozark, Arkansas - been here for over 10 years now and love this community - in fact, it's the best thing to keep me going these days. I'm a retired elementary teacher, a widow after 49 years, and now 2nd primary playmate for my 3 year old great grandson who lives with me now with his mom when her life got turned around. Love the outdoors and teaching him to, too! It's been a good 81 years - I am grateful.
March 24th, 2020
Really great to see so many faces!!
March 24th, 2020

Hi! I'm Mónica, I live in Valencia (Spain).
We are in lockdown for a month at least (today is day 10). I'm a teacher, and since schools are closed, we are expected to
teach online, so I'm trying to adapt, as are my pupils. It's far more work, and harder, than face-to-face lessons with teens!
Keep safe!
March 24th, 2020
@graemestevens You aren't even scary in real life!!!
March 24th, 2020
@annied That is so tough for kids! But there might be ways to keep them interacting at home. Granted , nothing is ever as impactful as real social interacting ..But maybe you can set up accounts on zoom and plan something once a week. A book reading or group project, maybe. Retirement is great but I miss teaching most days!
March 24th, 2020
@lynnz haha! That’s what I said too!
March 24th, 2020
@monicac pretty selfie!!! Good luck with the online learning. I am grateful for technology and teachers so children and young adults can continue to learn.
March 24th, 2020
@milaniet hi pretty lady! Oh how joyful to have your grandson to teach and learn with. He is lucky to have a grandma that loves and appreciates the outdoors.
March 24th, 2020
@photograndma Nice to meet you! Oh what an amazing adventure you are on! I am going to follow your project to take a virtual National Park tour!
March 24th, 2020
@gardenfolk such a pretty picture! So happy to see you !!!
March 24th, 2020
I'm surprised that I'm even doing this! I tried and tried to get a selfie where I wasn't looking down (or making a weird face) and just gave up. I took this in front of a canvas of one of my flower pictures, so at least I like the background!!
My hairdresser cancelled my haircut last week (and I don't blame her) so I may be cutting my own bangs before long!
I live in Oskaloosa, Iowa USA. The law office where I work part-time is still open but I haven't been going in. Covid-19 is just getting started here. Only 124 confirmed cases in Iowa but lots of reports of sick people who can't get the test or still waiting on results. I went to the grocery store this morning and it was nerve wracking (but at least I fixed my hair and put on makeup)!

March 24th, 2020
Great idea! So nice to see you all!

I’m Jacqueline, live in the Netherlands and work in health care with disabled people. I’m worried about this virus. Keep safe !

March 24th, 2020
@mona65 glad to see you, Mona! Your beautiful photographs always make my day!
March 24th, 2020
@4rky I bet Arky is happy to have you home! Such a stunning cat. Reminds me of my cat Zoe who passed away several years ago.So glad to see you!!!
March 24th, 2020
@lynnz This is such a pretty selfie! Well done! I hate taking selfies too because of the way my eyes look weird. My niece ,(who is a young selfie absorbed person ) tells me that the key is to look slightly off to the left . LOL
March 24th, 2020
@jacqbb lovely to see you! Oh, I love that rainy background!
March 24th, 2020
@mzzhope Thanks for the "look to the left" tip! And thanks for starting this thread. So interesting to read about everyone and see faces.
March 24th, 2020
@lynnz Lovey selfie, Lynn! I had a difficult time, as well, with getting a photo where I was actually looking forward and not down. Just read Hope's tip. :-) IF I ever decide to do another selfie I hope I will remember it! lol
March 25th, 2020

Hi! I'm Kathy
It's good to put faces with the names of so many friends here on 365project.org. What a great idea Hope ( @mzzhope). I live in North Carolina, southeastern USA. Retired, I was spending a lot of time at home anyway. Not restricted by government but it's coming. A knitting friend of mine summed it up well. She posted today that she was no longer sheltering in place. She is now an artist in residence.
March 25th, 2020
@randystreat I love that! We are all artists in residence :) SO great to see you, Kathy!!!
March 25th, 2020
Other than being more selective about grocery shopping, not a big change for our family.
March 25th, 2020
A great idea, Hope, thank you! Sharing with 365’ers has been a godsend during this stressful time. Hello to all of you from Midland, Michigan. Doing well so far. This is a medium size town but home to Dow Chemical where there are a lot of employees who do world travel. Getting outside as much as possible and taking it day by day. Selfies aren’t my forte but this seemed to fit the times. Take care everyone!
March 25th, 2020
@amyk I am so happy to see you, Amy!! Getting outside helps with the stress of it all for sure. And our friends here, too!
March 25th, 2020
@mallocarray this is a really cool selfie! Glad all is status quo for you and yours!
March 25th, 2020
@lynnz I keep telling people that....
March 25th, 2020

Joining the roll call!
Hi from Indonesia. I just stay in my room and trying to study for language test. I have prepared some canned foods, instant noodles, and eggs. Hopefully it lasted two weeks.
#stayhome
March 25th, 2020

I live in Melbourne, Victoria Australia. Following retirement from my Dental Career, I found a course in Applied Arts majoring in Woven Tapestry and involving many aspects of textiles. As luck would have it, one of our subjects was photography and the rest is history.
March 25th, 2020
@mzzhope - great idea Hope - how do I put in photo into comment box?
March 25th, 2020
@pdulis Hi! Ok...under your photo, next to the fav star, is a little box with an arrow. Click on that and copy and paste the code to this thread.:)
March 25th, 2020

March 25th, 2020
@ethelperry hi Ethel! There we are together!!!! I am so happy to see your smiling face, my friend.
March 25th, 2020
@bruni Hi Bruni! Wow! You have led an international life! My hubby has been doing the shopping here too. Glad we have this site!
March 25th, 2020
@mzzhope - sorry - can't find it - can you email screen shot to - pdulis@rogers.com ?
March 25th, 2020
@pdulis sent.:)
March 25th, 2020

Hello from Toronto - Canada. Can't believe its been 7 years for me as a 365 Project member. Here's a photo from a trip last year to Cuba - they called me Cuban Pete :)
March 25th, 2020

Learning to use the Zoom app to help neighbors with computer issues and to participate in virtual block parties. Setup apps to have groceries delivered. All seniors in CA are supposed to stay home, so I only go out to walk and wave at friends and neighbors from a distance.
March 25th, 2020
@shutterbug49 great shot Debbie!
March 25th, 2020
@pdulis hi Pete! I see a mum. Can’t wait to “meet” Cuban Pete. You did it correctly. I think you just selected a different photo.
March 25th, 2020
@shutterbug49 what a great photo! Thanks for all you are doing for your community. That is awesome!
March 25th, 2020
Here’s my selfie, gosh it’s way too close!
My claim to fame on 365 is that 365project @mzzhope is my 1st cousin! We go back a long way (over 60 yrs.).
I live in Wantagh, Long Island, NY. We (husband Mark) and I are doing ok, just missing our kids and grandkids very much. Hang in there
March 25th, 2020
March 25th, 2020
@jb030958 hi cousin! Cute selfie! You must miss those little ones like crazy!
March 26th, 2020
Sue
@mzzhope I love this idea but can't figure out how to get my photo into the "Post Reply" box!

March 26th, 2020
March 26th, 2020
Hi I'm Bruni
Bruni is short for Brunhilde. I was born in Hamburg, Germany and immigrated first to the USA in 1955, living in Chicago. From there I went back home, met my husband and followed him to Canada in 1960. We live in Ontario.
I'm in my 11th year here on this wonderful site and still enjoy every minute of it although I've slowed down quite a bit with age.
We're not in lock down yet, but for the last 14 days stayed home. only my husband goes grocery shopping early in the morning when the stores open for the elderly.
Stay safe, enjoy this great site and your friends and followers.
March 26th, 2020
@suez1e hi Sue! There is a little box with an arrow under your photo on the right. ( next to the star that shows favs) click on that box/arrow untill you see a code .“copy” will pop up. March 26th, 2020

Hi everyone, I joined this site three years ago and it has become one of my most important daily rituals. I live in Stellenbosch in the beautiful Western Cape of South Africa. This is the only selfie I have, taken by my daughter Katja when she was visiting from London last month. Meanwhile we will have a lockdown as from midnight tonight. Stay safe everyone :-
March 26th, 2020
@ludwigsdiana wow. you ladies are gorgeous! I so enjoy seeing all of your beautiful wildlife photos!
March 26th, 2020

Hi from my corner of England, just outside London. We have been in Lockdown since Monday evening here. My family is presently all well, though my brother in law is still recovering from the virus but thankfully did not need hospital care.

Delighted to have a garden in these times, not something everyone has. At least I can step outside and say hello to the Spring plants as they come through, bringing hope of life returning.

Hubby working from home, Teenager home again having had his watersports instructor course cut short just over a week before he would have qualified. But it is what it is, eh!
To quote the Best Marigold Hotel, "Everything will be alright in the end, and if it is not alright, it is not yet the end."

Hang in there, dear friends. Tough times but we will come through them together.
March 26th, 2020
@casablanca beautiful shot! So happy to hear that your brother is recovering from the virus. I am going to have to use that quote at some point! LOL. It is wonderful and true. And now I know what movie I should watch today!
March 26th, 2020

My selfie for the Roll Call of selfies that @msshope started.

This is my usual attire when I’m not in a suit, the shirt of the most successful Rugby Union Club side in England, Leicester Tigers. I live in Lincolnshire, UK, which is kind of half way up England on the Easternside.

This is me; unfortunately I have a resting angry face and I’ve taken the unilateral decision to not shave until this is over. Have been working from home since last Tuesday after being texted by my client on the Monday evening to “head home to your family Phil; leave now” - I quickly packed, locked up my weekday flat, gave the key and burglar alarm code to a neighbour and asked him to keep an eye on it and drove the four hours home to Carole.

Lockdown is similar to many of my Operational tours in the Military over my 24 year career (but the food is better and there’s Sky, Amazon Prime & Netflix this time)

Take care all
March 27th, 2020
Hi everyone, great to see you all on here. Fab idea to start this roll call Hope @mzzhope. I thought I'd be a little bit brave and join in even though this is way out of my comfort zone. I'm normally only found on the other side of the camera, but here's a phone selfie of me:

I'm Nichola and I'm originally from the UK (born in England but raised in Wales so I sound Welsh). I've been living in beautiful NZ for the past 12-ish years. I'm the admin person in the Careers Dept of our local high school. I live with the hubby, younger daughter, two dogs and three cats (elder daughter is currently living back in Wales) all of whom/which frequently appear in my 365 Project.

Today is Day 2 of our month-long lockdown across the whole of NZ. Take care and stay safe, everyone. Kia kaha.
March 27th, 2020
@phil_sandford that doesn’t look like an angry face! LOL.My brother isn’t shaving till this is over either. My hair is going grey and I’m learning to live with it. Happy to meet you.Waving to you from “ across the pond”!
March 27th, 2020
@nickspicsnz Hi Nichola! Glad to meet you! This is a beautiful selfie! Thanks for taking the leap and joining in .:) I have two cats ( can’t just have one!)and three bunnies that make lockdown bearable. Enjoy family time. We are all in this together.
March 27th, 2020
March 27th, 2020
I started sewing masks for the local hospital but irritated my injured shoulder so I'm putting my sewing machine away. I live on the mid coast of Oregon. So far so good but I'm sure missing hiking on beaches and state park trails. On the other hand, I am really glad our governor instated stay at home orders and I am lucky to have good hike available just walking out my door
March 27th, 2020
@jgpittenger I love your mask.Lucky folks who got them before you re-injured your shoulder! I am lucky to have woods outside my door too. So very thankful!
March 27th, 2020

Brilliant idea, Hope @mzzhope ! There hasn't been anything like this in a long while and it's nice to see so many from the community sharing this solidarity as we keep safe to enjoy life to its fullest again in the future! It really warms my heart to see so many here, and THESE are numbers that would be nice to see double overnight!!
March 28th, 2020
Well, I’m pretty late to this party, but when I finally saw this thread this morning I took a rather boring selfie of myself and started playing with it. This is one of three I’m posting because I’ve posted very little lately.

So how are we doing here? Campus is closed and, like so many, I’m working from home — doing my half-day office job for the Modern Languages dept at our computer. Timesharing it with Frank. I have been up to the office a few times this week because, on top of the COVID-19 work at home thing, we had to move everything out of a number of 2nd floor offices including the department main office where I work, in preparation for a construction crew who will put in a new heating/AC system through the summer. They moved the start time up to April 1 to take advantage of the currently empty building. I moved stuff to a basement office I hope to be able to use in the summer. Fun times!

March 28th, 2020
@Weezilou such a nice shot of the two of you! Yes, it’s good to see all these faces.
March 28th, 2020
@Weezilou oh this is a beautiful photo of you two! I makes me so happy to see you!:)
March 28th, 2020
@mcsiegle love this selfie edit! Wow you are busy! My hubby and I are just kind of nesting at home because we are retired. I FaceTime my Mom every day and make sure she has plenty of food but it’s sad that she is by herself. She’s 88 so we are concerned about her.
March 28th, 2020
Hi, I'm Kathy, aged 61, mother of three and grandmother of five beautiful children. I live in Sydney Australia and am a mental health nurse in a maximum security gaol. The virus has got us in semi lockdown here although we don't have the high numbers of cases as in other countries, fingers crossed it remains that way

March 28th, 2020

Me and Murphy my friend Simon's huge horse. No I don't ride - I am frightened of horses and this shot taken a couple of years ago was my first close up with a horse.

My sister and I are down in Devon until mid June (hopefully no longer) as we have had to vacate our house due to a burst pipe under kitchen floor. A real saga and wonderful not to be in the house with dehumidifiers and fans going 24/7 plus no furniture downstairs. We are in a beautiful house at the bottom of a deep valley. If we had to social distance I cannot think of a better place to be!!

Take care everyone and stay safe!!

Great idea Hope. Thank you. We are in the North-East of Scotland, and I think there are many worse places to be during this crisis.

I'm Issi, and I'm 59 and holding hard. Married with two adult kids - one in Oslo, the other in London (but currently at home due to the crisis).

Hubby and I do lots of walking, but we are staying close to home these days. This was taken yesterday during a short walk up a local hill. My camera almost blew off the ledge - hence the expression on hubby's face, and my open hand!

Stay safe and sane everyone!

I live near Winchester with my son and husband. Our daughter lives in Scotland and sent me this beautiful scarf for Mother's Day, along with books, chocolate, nuts for the other members of the family. She and her flatmate have a strategy in case one of them falls sick. She is now working from home and feels lucky to have her lovely dog, Ludo, for walks. We three here all have our different interests to keep us occupied, mine being photography of course; our son works voluntarily for a guitar website, music being his passion; Ray, my husband, loves the garden, likes reading including his new venture The Times online. What I really miss now is the swimming pool, the one place I felt free and pain-free from arthritis. C'est la vie and all that!

@jamibann what a beautiful shot of you, two! Glad you ( and the camera!) are safe and well.

@quietpurplehaze oh I am with you on the swimming Hazel! It is my number one remedy for my fibromyalgia! Happy to see your smiling face! Stay well.

@mzzhope I've just read through this again and see that a circle of people I've followed a long time came in toward the end as Ken and I did! This was such an excellent idea. I know we all have warm feelings for this community and it's nice to see everyone drop by with a picture to share...like a holiday Newsletter!

@Weezilou it’s just so awesome to put faces to the names of the people in our awesome international community . Especially now!

Hi what an uplifting thread.
I'm Phil, from Nottingham, I have been here since Jan 2011 , but don't post daily anymore. I love street photography , I take photos of strangers , I ask permission to do so. My last street stranger was at the beginning of March, I cannot see me doing any streeties for several months now .
I retired early last summer and had plans to visit various local cities, this spring and summer ...derby , Leicester, Sheffield, Birmingham . Those plans won't be happening .

I hope you all stay safe, healthy , practice social distancing and follow guidelines from your government . It is going to be difficult , our relationships will be challenged , our moods change , we will experience situations we never imagined could happen , just hang in there .

@phil_howcroft hi Phil! Oh I look forward to following your street photography! Glad you are hanging in there ..you will be able to fulfill those traveling dreams before you know it.:)

I've been self-isolating for 18 days and have seen 5 humans outside on my street. Staying home alone and not going out when in Evanston (Chicago suburb) is not a change. I've been using Zoom for meetings for five years, and teaching online since 14 years ago, but Zoom as a socializing tool is new. But my biggest challenge -- making videos of myself that become part of professionally edited and published videos. I don't take selfies much, and selfie-videos are an even bigger challenge. I made screenshots and combined those screenshots to show some of the attempts I made. The time stamps show you how ridiculously quickly I abandoned most of the attempts. I'm comfortable teaching and giving talks -- but memorizing and reciting text perfectly yet naturally proved to be a huge challenge. And now I have to make another video clip to make an announcement that I could easily have done "live" but with the cancellation of the press conference, it will be painful to do as a selfie-video. Sigh.

@stephomy @jackies365 -- there's no flour anywhere for baking! I haven't bought any baking ingredients and I've used up all the flour my husband had bought. But staying inside so much now, I decided to bring out the smaller of the bread makers my husband had so I tried to buy flour. NONE to be purchased locally, NONE through grocery stores online, NONE at King Arthur website, NONE at Thrive, and NONE at Amazon. How are you baking???
April 2nd, 2020
@graemestevens -- seriously ??? You're not at all like your selfies! THIS is what I thought you'd look like: http://365project.org/jyokota/365/2019-04-01

@jyokota I'd bought an extra bag before things got really bad. Our stores are getting it back in now. It will be back!

@mzzhope Think this discussion space is a wonderful idea.
Have enjoyed perusing other people's entries. Would like to join in, but don't know how to load a photo into this space. I have tried copying and paste, but it didn't seem to work.

There. I hope I have managed to get the photo posted. my thanks to @jyokota . I am inspired first by having seen Junko Y's lovely selfie collage and reading her narrative and then by viewing those that I've had time to peruse on this discussion group. My photo is not a selfie.
I asked my daughter to take a "Before Photo"of me before my wife cut my hair for the first time since the 1970's. My barber who is in his 70's worked right up until the time that the Mayor closed all non-essential businesses. But I was already honoring the request for senior to self quarantine, so I had been getting a little shaggier than I am used to. I'll leave you all in suspense as to how I might look in the "After Photo". We live in the northwest part of Los Angeles County. The Great and Majestic San Fernando Valley to be more precise. Our house has been rather like a South African Daisy slowly closing up as sunset draws near. Weeks ago, I had been even been going to movie theaters several times a week, but never when they were crowded. But gradually, as the warnings went out to seniors to stay in, my wife and I began to stay home more, except for trips to various stores for groceries and supplies. I admit that, at first, it was hard to think of myself as an endangered species, or whatever the current term may be. One of our three grown daughters was living at home and continued to go off to work in her small office. Eventually, we prevailed upon her to work from home. A second daughter was working temporarily in New York City, when her company ordered everyone to work from home. She was more bummed by her lost social opportunities than she was alarmed for her health. She eventually decided to fly to stay with us, rather than return to her apartment in Seattle. She was more than a little surprised when I met her at the airport and handed her a surgical mask. She just passed her two week quarantine so she had not been infected. As time went by, our daughters finally fought off their young people's inclination just to assume everything was going to be okay despite what decisions they made. Now all of us are on board with the Stay at Home program. We are trying to avoid shopping at the markets and finally managed to find a supermarket with a pickup slot. We are just keeping our fingers crossed that they will actually have most of the things we ordered. Some of the substitutions the store made on our first delivery attempt were pretty funny. To say they took liberties would be an understatement. They only had about 19 items out of the 55 we ordered. On the bright side, it is fun having two of the kids back in the house. They are both working most of the day. But we see them for meals and a little communal TV in the evenings. Getting the four of us to agree on a single show can be more challenging than the Afghan Peace Talks. But it feels nice to be a family again if there is any plus to come out of this situation. We're all getting along very nicely.
Before all this started, I was looking forward to selecting some new roses to replace some that the rodents destroyed last year. It turns out that the nurseries are considered essential businesses and are therefore open, but I have to decide if it's worth the risk going to pick some up. I probably wont. Funny thing is I probably don't watch any more TV than I used to. Probably because there is no sports to watch. I have been trying to spend the time, reading up on how to best use my latest camera. After almost two years, one might think that it's about time. I'm convinced that probably not one percent of all photographers could tell you how to operate ALL the features on their cameras. Now it's time for my daily walk when I'll use all the guile and agility that still remains in this senior body to try and keep my social (the new buzz word is "physical") distance from any approaching neighbors, all of whom seem as preoccupied as Walter Mitty ever may have been. I hope that all of you, my 365 friends will stay safe and be well. My best to you all.

@mbrutus -- glad you were successfully able to post your photo and your check-in story. Sounds like your family is making the best of this time by spending time together. Now for that "after" haircut photo . . .
April 4th, 2020
@jyokota oh that would be difficult for me too. Selfie videos are on another anxiety-making level . This is such a cool collage of you!!!
April 4th, 2020
@mbrutus wonderful before shot! That sounds nice having the family together at this time. I laughed out loud when you said you were reading up on your camera . That’s my latest project. I think I had opened the book once in 3 years.

@mbrutus sorry I did not see this but so happy @jyokota was able to help!

@jyokota I always have flour on hand. Right before the stores started running out I had all purpose, bread, cake, whole wheat, and rice flour stored all over my tiny kitchen. My all purpose and cake flour were dangerously low, but at least I was able to find some more cake flour today. I usually mostly use all purpose flour, but now I've been having to play around with the other flours more. I made whole wheat biscuits and gravy for breakfast today, and some rice cookies with the rice flour yesterday. Today is my sister's birthday, and I used some of the cake flour to make her three tiny earl gray chiffon cakes with chocolate ganache topping... yeah I know I have a problem. I can't stop baking and eventually I'll run out of all my flour. Hopefully by then there will be more in the stores, or I'll have to beg my boss to sell me a bag of flour from work haha. The bakery I work at right now is staying closed until the Govoner lifts the stay at home order.

Actually if any of the bakeries near you are still open, try asking them if they'll sell you some, otherwise your best bet will be to go to a restaurant supply store and buy a 50 pound bag yourself. If you're lucky, they might have a 25 pound bag, but the ones here rarely do. I would do it, but my place it too small and I do have to pace myself or I'm going to gain too much weight during this break.

Hilarious, @stephomy -- I JUST posted my baking failure photo: https://365project.org/jyokota/365/2020-04-04

AND I got so desperate for flour I resorted to a restaurant-sized order of 12 bags of flour. I will be a popular neighbor when I start distributing them. https://365project.org/jyokota/365/2020-04-07
April 5th, 2020
@jyokota Haha, I just commented there before seeing this. Have fun with all that flour.

My wife and I hail from Northwestern Pa. This photo was taken two years ago while on vacation. I wonder if we will have the opportunity to go anywhere this year?
Our area has been very fortunate in that our county has had only 60 cases with 1 fatality. Our county is very rural which has played a vital part in the low numbers so far.
We are staying home with very few trips to town to pick up food which we order online and do curbside pick up with no direct contact. Our two daughters live in two neighboring towns.
Our Amish neighbors are not abiding with the social distancing decrees and so far they seem to be doing well.
