Weekly Photographic Articles

October 25th, 2020
In this day of over whelming news I am trying to stay away from news in general. I try to make a point of reading photo blogs and such instead. Each Sunday I check out Petapixel.com as there is a 'Great Reads in Photography' column. ( https://petapixel.com/2020/10/25/great-reads-in-photography-october-25-2020/ ).

I recently started using my son's iPhone 7 (his back up phone) and am learning its new features. I clicked on this article ( https://www.cnet.com/how-to/iphone-photo-trick-take-stunning-long-exposure-pics-with-no-extra-apps-or-equipment/ ). I mentioned the long exposure feature to my son who thought I was referring to night mode. I got him to read the article (okay, he skimmed it) and went out to the backyard to capture the clouds and trees which are quite active today as we have high winds today.

I am not one to brag about my technology knowledge to anyone, especially my son who is my " IT " department and source of true tech calmness. He didn't know about this feature yet. (Score one for the old girl)

I will admit it that this algorithm on the iPhone isn't perfect by any stretch but it is fun. I am also one to use the camera that I have with me so if I can learn how to use this feature, I have at least a new toy to play around.

Have fun all iPhone users.

@joysabin Thanks! I use my EyePhone ;) now almost on a daily basis. Why not? It takes better and better photo's and has plenty of editing options. I use the live function too. Also great for mini videos :)

@radiogirl i expect there's all sorts of tutorials online, but no - i'm just referring to the concept in the abstract... going on the assumption that at this point the iPhone is as good as the point and shoot i have in my work bag... and also that it's a reasonable alternative to lugging around a wide lens when i go somewhere i am mostly using my telephoto...

Thanks for the link, looks good. I have found that Mike Pasini's site, http://mikepasini.com/corners/index.php also very good. I especially like his 'Round the Horn' listing good.
