Mine? A beautiful rural landscape of bright colours growing in fields. Worth the stinging nettles to capture this.
I have been very busy all week taking photographs, and it was a very difficult choice this week. I think it's this one, because I had already got this subject and was happy with it. Decided to go back and improve on it. In my opinion, I did.
They are not that rare, you need the right habitat, pools with boggy surroundings, but that means you can’t always get to where you need to be, to take your photo. On a warm sunny day, they can be zooming around all over the place, landing here, there and everywhere. Hardly pausing for a moment till they are off again. Go on a cooler day and they are still around but hardly moving, perched up but super hard to spot. It’s amazing just how well they blend with their background.
The Northern Damselfly I posted yesterday is an example. I went to a site for about three hours, got a lot of nice images of various species and there were loads of northern , but so flighty I got one blurry image of a northern in that time. Tried elsewhere and saw odd ones, but none would sit still. A few days later went back to the original site, and saw very few northerns, far less than previous visit. However the first one I saw was very obliging and posed nicely twice and in first ten minutes I had about 20 reasonable shots. After I got those, the northerns vanished for the day !
You just need time, patience, and a lot of luck.
I think this would have to be my favorite photo from last week. Over the past two weeks, I made two trips up to Orlando to visit Disney World with my daughter, my grandson, and my nephew. We had so much fun visiting all four parks. This picture reminds me of the good time we shared and the memories we made together.
Rainbows make everything better.
I was intrigued by this little family group, the connection between them was intense.
