LR Question

hi there... lightroom is giving me a world of grief right now and i really don't know what else to try... other than LR my computer seems to be running smoothly... i am thinking i should try uninstalling LR and reinstalling, but wondering what will happen to all the raw files saved in LR... will they disappear? or....????

and please don't tell me to save them to an external file first... we'll be here for the next 5 years!

if you've got a better suggestion of what to try... let me know!

Lightroom (adobe) has awesome support staff. They can even do a computer to computer connection to fix your problem.
I have used them a couple of times and always been satisfied.

Not knowing specifically what you are experiencing, I'll throw this out there for your consideration. Being that you are a Lightroom Classic user, I got that from your response to my question a couple of weeks ago, might it be a corrupted catalog problem?

I would move those a copy of those images to another drive anyway. Hard drives crash. You need to have at least one redundant copy.

Uninstalling lightroom should not delete any photos.

You need to make sure you know the location of the catalogue file LRCAT. Once reinstalled you can then point it to use that file as your catalogue any editing data on raw files will then reappear along with the locations of the files.

@skipt07 - i honestly wouldn't know... the issue i have is that it is deathly slow... i get the spinning rainbow ball of death with every single click...
@sudweeks - yup... and in theory i have a back up service in the cloud although i've never tested it... i do try to move everything to an external drive periodically, but i've been so busy that it's been a while, and again, painfully slow in moving things around...
@rjb71 - good to know, although i expect i would be challenged in figuring that out...
