Many thanks to those who responded to my post this morning with their thoughtful comments.
Fortunately I have a great technician, he just pushed a few buttons and it was up and running again!
It sure gave me a fright and quite a knot in my stomach fearing the worst! He did suggest that I get a new laptop though, which I am still thinking about.
I deleted the earlier post to continue with my themed calendar. Thanks all :-)
