DTP files

March 15th, 2026
I wonder if anyone knows what a DTP file is and how to open one? I use a Mac. I have inherited my late father's computer and he has a lot of DTP files on there. He was an amazing photographer, so I am wondering if they are image files. I have tried a lot of things, but not found a way to open them yet.

Anyone with experience of these? Help welcome. Thank you.

From what I can gather it is a Windows file of some kind (see https://www.filesuffix.com/en/extension/dtp) Son David’s job is to do with computer software and he is joining us for a meal later so I will ask him if that will help?

@kjarn Think my son can do it for free.

@kjarn Thanks, I did look them up but the charges are huge. I have a lot of these files. Appreciate the thought though.

@koalagardens Thanks. Can't work out if that is a company still in existence or which apps are bona fide. Helps to know the origin name though, thanks.
