To someone from these parts it definitely shows it is winter - the reeds are sparser. In summer you wouldn't be able to see through them to the sky.

We don't get snow but every couple of years. Here is what the Winter twilight looks like in Charleston SC.

Usually in Ottawa, ON its at least -10c this time of year but it warmed up over the past week. On Sunday it was a mere -2c and with some clouds gave us a colorful sunset.
