Okay..... some people have put "theme-stillife" which is starting a separate page on which there are a few postings .... the actual spelling to which most are posting is "theme-stilllife" .... I just didn't want folk to miss out on being part of the theme .... that's all!
I noticed but had to double check. I know it's the new European way of spelling..when I went to school we wouldn't have three of them..to 3rd one was strictly eliminated
what's new and european about spelling it right? Very confused. 'still' has two Ls and 'life' has one! They're simply put together because there can't be a gap in the tag.
@ Karen - how sensible!!! Yes to the others - when we were taught English (our first language) in the dim and distant past - if you made one word from two the repeated letter never exceeded two! Thus the confusion where three "l"s seems excessive!!
I wasn't commenting on whether it is "wrong" or "right" - just that I'd noticed some folk spelled it automatically with two "l"s and were therefore going to miss out on submission to this week's theme!! Nothing more than that!!!! I was just trying to be helpful.... sigh!
This discussion reminds me of the German spelling reform in 1996. It divided the country in two groups (and still does). With it came the rule that we can't eliminate the third same letter anymore. I have to admit I still stumble when I have to read or write three of the same in a row. I guess we are all creatures of habit. Thanks for pointing the "Ls" out to us as many would have missed out on the challenge otherwise.
aahhhh, Miss Elizabeth...the purest intentions, I know dear! Thank you for the reminder. I double checked my entry! Please don't let the detour of this post get you down! Best wishes!
@elizabeth I have enough trouble with American English and I still have problems spelling colour properly from long years of habit. So not I have to learn a new language, 365-English??? Oh dear, oh dear. :-)
Thank you Elizabeth for looking out for fellow 365-ers! I know that I found myself having to count my L's as I was tagging my photo yesterday...after a couple they all blend together as you read them, haha. Thanks again for trying to make sure no one was excluded from the theme...very thoughtful!
I'm fairly certain it isn't, thus, there's nothing wrong :)
