Artist challenge is starting today. Franco Fontana

August 7th, 2018
So I was the winner. Unexpected but very pleasant! Thank you everybody who voted for my Hay raker. And special thanks to Louise and Ken who thought of bringing back to attention the beautiful collection of photos of the Family of man. I was really excited about it, as demonstrated by the many pictures on the theme that I sent. Hopefully we'll keep on emulating tho se pictures of yore and tag them as ac-FoM.
Now however we need to go on with anew artist. I thought a lot about it and I learned a few things in the process. There are so many and inspiring photographers that it is difficult to choose one. In the end, however,I decided to remain on an old love of mine, whom I have already cited in the past and who can offer many possibilities wherever one lives. The master that should inspire you for the next three weeks is Franco Fontana (an Italian, why not?). His love for strong colours and essential lines has made him a well recognised master, whose works are in a great number of museums around the world. Please refer to and Franco Fontana Wikipedia. Both links will connect you to other interesting sites.
I hope you will appreciate the choice and I’m looking forward l to see what comes out of this challenge. So Get Started and have fun!

The Challenge:

+ STARTS August 7, 2018 (all time zones considered)

+ ENDS August 31, 2018 (all time zones considered)

+ TAG: ac-Fontana

+ Only photographs taken on or between these dates will be chosen for voting by your peers. Take a photograph that is in the artist's style, or emulate a certain work, or simply be inspired by his work. You may process your photos to emulate the artwork or stay true to your own style of processing.

+ You may enter more than one photo. In each case, however, I would appreciate very much if you would include a link to the photograph(s) that inspired yours.

Also, I encourage you to post your entry/ies in the comments section below to keep this discussion active and to inspire others. To do so, simply click on the button on the right of the star button at the bottom right of your photo’s narrative, copy the Embed Code and paste it on your comment here.

I have found that Fontana's work resembles a lot of what I have done myself. He works like I do in many ways. I am looking forward to this one.

Keeping this competition deservedly at the top of the thread, with my latest entry:

Caterina, this is a marvelous choice, and a "riot of color" to break loose from the Family of Man's B&W images! I'm wracking my brain for locations to use here, as I really want to take part!
@vincent24 it was wonderful to see what so many of you went out to emulate, as you were dealing with a cityscape as opposed to his more pastoral scenes!

I'm looking forward to this!

@Weezilou hi Louise, thank you for watching, we mainly focused on his urban work :
Easier to find location for this type of photos, but still hard to compose as he did
