Ansel Adams said "Twelve significant photographs in any one year is a good crop". But I'd like you to crop your 12 down to one (or two)
Please look through your album/s to find your favourite of 2018.
Underneath your photo is an arrow, click on that to copy the data and paste it here.
If you are going to showcase two, save the data on a word document and then copy and paste both together in the thread.
Please take the time to add a sentence to say why the photograph is your chosen one or two.
An English sunset that I took with my ‘phone whilst out on my stand up paddleboard. This was a winning entry to the song title challenge and I was so chuffed that this fortuitous photo sang for others on 365.
The best get-pushed challenge I've ever been given, to emulate the work of Jackie Rankin. I can truly recommend lobbing kitchen utensils in the air to practice panning as they fall to get your shot.
Happpy New Year to you all. Normal favourite of your week will resume next week.
My favourite of another is this one by Rosie Kerr @rosiekerr. Her whole series of her trip in Ireland (especially the windows) took my breath away. Happy New Year Rosie! I'll look for my own fav, but this is mine of another 365.
My favourite of my own was this ICM I took while scouting locations for senior portraits. The light was just luscious! Happy New Year Everyone!
I liked this one from January. It is SOOC, and I found a perfect quote to go with it. It also showed me what circumstances to look for to catch the dramatic sky this way.
The quote is: "The total amount of energy we use every year - from coal, oil, natural gas, hydro, nuclear, and everything else - is dwarfed by the amount of solar energy hitting the planet each year."
~Ramez Naam~
In contrast is this one from February. I found the quote first, thought of an idea, and edited it until it looked like what I had envisioned.
The quote is: "Though she be but little, she is fierce."
~William Shakespeare~
I do a calendar of my favorite 13 shots every year. I'm posting this shot of my wife's prefferred restaurant because it captures the essence of the place. From a photographic angle, the image is an HDR, produced from three bracketted shots. Despite quite a lot of movement going on, such as the waiter moving forward, the software sorted it all out.
@roachling YOu had notice a few weeks back!! You can have two!!! @laroque It's not easy picking one a month is it?? @janeandcharlie thank you, lovely quotes @kali66 lovely light!! And that has got to be the very bestest and my favouritest photoshoot ever! @darylo thank you Daryl @judithdeacon fabulous reflection
We were driving through an area of Amish farms near Westby, Wisconsin, and we came upon this boy riding a horse on the paved road. Grab-shot through a dirty windshield, but it might be my favorite picture of all time.
I've only been on 365 since the end of November, so it was easier to choose. This was from a get-pushed challenge. I was experimenting with lighting and depth of field. I like the way the spotlight came out in this image.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond True, I did have notice... but then I forgot! Luckily, I upload a lot of rubbish so I'm already down to just 20... I'll pop back and post one, no, I know it'll be two, soon :)
It has to be this one of the Red Arrows over Stamford. It's not often I Plan a shot I generally like to make it up as I go along. But on this occasion I planned what I wanted to get and pretty much achieved it.
Hands down it is this one for me. It received a great response on 365 and won Best In Show at my county Fair. I will also be entering it into my college art show in the spring
@salza I'll have people putting up 12 next!!! Love dog one @wenbow look forward to more next year @grammyn and a winning song title?? @rjb71 brilliant @roachling hehehe, x
Hi Jackie! My favourite is this one. Simple shot but I love the way it shows my man and my teenager as being totally in synch! PS he is now taller than his Dad LOL!!
This might be an odd choice, but I really enjoy how this turned out when I played around in Gimp. I layered two jelly photos and used pencil and watercolor tools to alter the photo, but now I can't remember how I really accomplished the feat. I have tried several times to recreate this image, but with crap results. Thus, this will prove to be a one off!
For me two vacation shots from Nova Scotia, Canada. Both with a lucky lighthouse. One shows a moment of friendship, that started here in this 365 project and grew into our real lives, even if there is an Atlantic in between, and second to be in the right place, at the right time, is that lucky moment in photography
This is the second one taken in september in Amersfoort. This gentleman was reading so peacefully in his garden totally oblivious that I took his picture.
Boy - is it ever hard to choose just two! I had it narrowed down to twelve - then five - and I like them all!
But finally I decided to keep two trains to keep it consistent. But then there are some panning shots, some artistic type, and my Shadow portraits ....
Thanks for doing this Jackie - it was good to look back over the year!
Difficult choice but it was good to go back and look through the past year again. In the end I chose this one, it reminds me of a really happy time in this beautiful place.
Well I haven’t even done a full month yet, so it hardly seems fair to participate, but I will anyway, ha. I liked this one of the horses getting new shoes.
Probably not my best, but I love this feeling, being warm and uninterrupted in my van, listening to music and letting the storm cut me off from the world and wash over me.
My favourites are often not the ones that necessarily look the best, but the ones I've had the most fun making... this one was for the 52 Portraits Of Me Challenge which I started but didn't finish in 2018. I'm sooo not a selfie person but I really enjoyed the challenge :)
And this one was my first ever sunrise photo (at least the first that wasn't obscured by buildings or other obstacles)... every time I look at it, it reminds me that I really should make the time to watch the sun come up more often...
@m2016 what a contrast between the two @pandorasecho it's not about best but fave!! @sararoche get ready for next year!! Welcome to 365 btw @inthecloud5 glad you enjoyed searching @amyk lovely choice @wendyfrost and glorious bokey bokeh @lsquared sorry if was tough!! @farmreporter my pleasure and so good too see so many taking part!! Phew, didn't think this would fly!! @jacqbb a classic candid street shot
I was photographing starling murmurations around Aberystwth: a truly wonderful sight. But these 'eyes in the sky' suggested that they would not be upstaged by the starlings! The thought - and the subsequent shot (shown here) - amused me. Shots that I find amusing and unexpected tend to be my favourites.
A second favourite of the year, chosen because it was an unexpected delight. I had been using infra red film and enjoyed it so I decided to try using a digital infra red camera. This was an early attempt.. bright sunlight (which I knew I would need) and many different materials reflecting it in their different and unexpected ways.
I'm a total newbie here, with only a handful of photos, but I'll participate anyway. This one really seemed to say farewell to 2018. The shoes had had it, and it was time for something new.
I've always loved my moonshots and usually I'd pick one of those to post. I also love playing around with photos of my grandchildren and I certainly had a favorite of those this year. An unusual twist in our travel plans has me incapable of really looking through the bulk of my pictures BUT all that being said, as I think about the previous year and some of my favorite shots, this one comes to mind quite often (maybe because it was posted so recently!). I'm not sure any part of this picture was actually taken in 2018! However, the composite work was and I'm quite proud of the look was able to achieve.
I started in October so I don’t have many to choose from, however I am always surprised that I really like some of the one I managed to make happen un a tight timescale.
This was my second shot of the project that I managed to take during lunch, and is one of my all time favorites:
I am also really happy with my duck shot. I planned this out in my mind’s eye, and the execution was a pain. I had to lean over another small animal pen to get the framing, and hang out there while waiting all the other ducks to stop splashing around with people passing by staring. Worth the work though.

It's so hard choosing... I' got down to 8 without too much trouble but from 8 down to 1 or 2 was very hard...
Really liked these too
Snow
Starlings
Four spotted chaser
Autumnal morning
(sorry... I'm known for my indecisiveness!)
But finally I decided to keep two trains to keep it consistent. But then there are some panning shots, some artistic type, and my Shadow portraits ....
Thanks for doing this Jackie - it was good to look back over the year!
It made "popular" and "trending" here, and is in my Top 10 of my highest rated photos here.

@yrhenwr very different styles
I didn't take many last year but this was the one best received.

So hard to choose but I love a perfectly timed shot.
