Next round of revamped Minimalism Challenge starting ---> Optional theme : Curves

July 8th, 2019
Thanks to Vincent @vincent24 for hosting the first minimalism challenge of the new generation. And thanks to all of you who participated, voted and commented.

The minimalism challenge starting today is the second one of the revamped generation. It is thus generic and open to ALL minimalist entries. The suggested optional theme for this second challenge is “Curves”; this theme is non mandatory and can be used as source of idea/inspiration only. I have noticed that my natural trend when making minimalist shots is to mainly pick up subjects that have straight lines as dominant lines. I do not know if it is just me or if this applies to others as well. Having to build a minimalist image around curved lines would thus be a special challenge to me, and that is why I am proposing this idea as an optional theme.

The challenge begins today Monday July 8th, 2019 and is open for entries until Monday July 29th, 2019 by midnight in your time zone. Shots must be taken within this time frame. A voting will take place shortly after. The winner will then host the next round of the minimalism challenge and will also propose the optional theme.

Here is the record of the suggested optional themes for the minimalism challenge so far :
01. Edge
02. Curves

Regarding minimalist photography:

Many definitions & examples of minimalist photography are out there to consider. Here is a guideline : minimalism is indeed the art of less. As a life philosophy, minimalists focus on a few essential elements of life and cast unnecessary things aside. Same pretty much goes for this photography style.
Minimalism is a style employed by many 20th Century artists, using a minimum amount of components such as color, shape, line and texture to emphasize the subject matter. If you’d like some tips or to see some examples check out: https://digital-photography-school.com/minimalist-photography-4-tips-to-keep-it-simple-with-a-maximum-impact/

Keep effects and processing to a minimum also.

I hope you will enjoy this challenge and we are all looking forward to seeing your entries.
