Artist Challenge: Robert Frank, The Americans.

September 13th, 2019
The legendary photographer Robert Frank passed away this week. A genius is no longer among us. Here is a wonderful link containing a reprint from a 2015 New York Times article about Frank's life with special emphasis on the making of The Americans. Perhaps it will give inspiration to you.

BLACK AND WHITE IMAGERY ONLY.

While the focus of this work was on the heart and soul of America, from another country one can, from Frank's inspiration, capture the heart and soul of another place.

The challenge will remain open until October 13.

Tag your images Robert-Frank-2019.

thanks for the link...not sure I could come close...his book is on my coffee table. I often pick it up and look at only one image.

I am confused ...
Is there more than one artist challenge going on at the moment? I'm okay with that if that is the case but I'm just confused is all.

@farmreporter Hi Wendy, yes I suppose there is. Robert Frank's passing was my inspiration.

just a note that tags can't contain spaces so you will need to amend that to something like Robert_Frank_2019 :)

@walrus @farmreporter

It might be a good idea to rename this something like "A Robert Frank Tribute" challenge to distinguish it from the "traditional" artist challenge. I wouldn't want one to usurp the other and both are worth encouraging participation.

@olivetreeann @walrus
I did say that it was a special challenge in the Weekly SH*T list but then renamed it when I saw your suggestion, Ann.

Has the originators of the challenge disappeared his link doesn't work for me. Really like this idea too right up my street.
