New Minimalist Challenge (optional theme : light)

December 18th, 2019
Thanks to Marloes @stimuloog for hosting the previous minimalist challenge with her usual communicative cheerfulness. Thanks also to all who participated, voted and commented. I am honored to be the next host of this challenge.

The minimalist challenge is generic and open to all minimalist entries. The suggested optional theme is “Light"; this theme is not mandatory but can be used as a source for ideas and inspiration. It can be Christmas lightings, a light ray through a door or a window, a play between light and shadows on a wall, whatever inspires your creativity.

Dates :
- Start : the challenge start is backdated to Monday December 9th, 2019 in case you want to enter a minimalist shot that you have already made since the closure of the last challenge.
- End : the challenge is open for entries until Tuesday January 14th, 2020 by midnight in your time zone, to let you take full benefit from the optional theme of “Light” throughout the luminous Christmas and New Year periods.
- Shots must be taken within this time frame. Voting will take place shortly after. The winner will then host the next round and will also propose another optional theme.

Regarding minimalist photography:

Many definitions & examples of minimalist photography are out there to consider. Here is a guideline : minimalism is indeed the art of less. As a life philosophy, minimalists focus on a few essential elements of life and cast unnecessary things aside. Same pretty much goes for this photography style. Minimalism is a style employed by many 20th Century artists, using a minimum amount of components such as color, shape, line and texture to emphasize the subject matter.

Keep effects and processing to a minimum also.

I hope you will enjoy this challenge. Looking forward to seeing your entries and hoping some new members will join in too !
