Thanks to Rob @robz for hosting the last abstract challenge and to all who participated.
As quoted by Pablo Picasso:
“There is no abstract art. You must always start with something. Afterwards you can remove all traces of reality.”
This also seems to suit the process for abstract photography!
Try to apply it, look around you for something real, and remove trace of this reality with your camera! Or, maybe, take an original image and then use your imagination and skills to create an abstract to your liking.
So, please post your abstract image with the tag Abstract-34.
The challenge is open to photos taken from the 21st June 2020 until July 21st, midnight your time.

1. A definition of an Abstract Image:
Abstract photography is a means of depicting a visual image that does not have an immediate association with the object world and that has been created through the use of photographic equipment, processes or materials. An abstract photograph may isolate a fragment of a natural scene, it may involve the use of color, light, shadow, texture, shape and/or form to convey a feeling, sensation or impression, it may be produced using traditional photographic equipment or it may be created by directly manipulating film, paper or other photographic media, including digital presentations.
Basically, just choose a subject and try to see it in abstract form so that the subject is not easily recognisable. Or choose an abstract concept eg lines and angles, shapes and colours etc and go for a bit of a walk! There are no restrictions on what to shoot. You might want to try a subject that you know very well or something quite new to you. You could choose a particular angle or close in on a part of it. You will need to consider factors such as what focal length and which exposure parameters would be best to realise your vision…
3. Please keep these things in mind:
• As far as possible the actual object is not immediately recognisable – in some cases even this requirement may not be essential.
• Remember one possibility is seeing abstract before you shoot.
• Post-production - edits such as colour saturation, double exposures, contrast
enhancements and black and white or negative conversions are fine, but please, if possible, try to minimise the use of software filters that significantly change the image in order to make it abstract. (There are other challenges that focus on that e.g. ETSOOI.) However, if you have a definite idea in mind that requires this type of processing, please give it a go and maybe explain your concept in your intro.
• The images should be taken within the time frame of the challenge.
• You are encouraged to enter as many images as you like! However, for judging, only one image will be chosen from any one contestant.
• As with other challenges, the person who wins has the honour of hosting the next one.
You are welcome to post your submissions on this thread as well, in order to improve their visibility and to inspire more people.
