Translucent Macro Theme

June 7th, 2021
Thank you to Nada @njmom3 for hosting the last Macro Challenge with the Star Wars theme. And thank you to all who entered and/ or took part in the voting. It was a tough challenge that I was thrilled to won!

I have chosen ‘Translucent’ as the next theme. Shine your light through thin and almost transparent objects to see the fascinating textures and patterns that can be found there.

Some great examples are:
Leaves and petals make interesting designs
Frosted and stained glass
Butterfly and insect wings
Kiwi, cucumber, and citrus fruit sliced thin
Agate, marble, and granite stones sliced thin

This is just a small list of possibilities. There are endless other examples. Even your finger nail has a degree of translucence when you put your finger on a light!

Just remember that this is a macro challenge. The definition of macro photography is to take close-up photos of small objects to make them look life sized or larger. Try to fill the frame to get an incredible amount of detail with your subject.

The challenge will run from Monday, June 7th to Monday, July 5th All photographs must be taken between these dates but you can enter multiple times. (and I hope you do!)
