Thank you so much to Kali @kali66 for hosting the last artist challenge, I am so surprised to have been selected as the host of this challenge (all my past my art teachers would be most gob-smacked!).
It is my honour to host this challenge and my inspiration is the speaker of the quote I have in my profile "The camera is an excuse to be someplace you otherwise don't belong" SUSAN MEISELAS
Meiselas is primarily a documentary photography and is president of the Magnum Foundation; a nonprofit organisation that expands creativity and diversity in documentary photography through the innovative use of images.
You are not expected to go out and take photographs of war (her story behind the "Molotov Man" on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ip4EC11_Z7Q is interesting) or visit some "Carnival Strippers" (there is another interesting YouTube on this series https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccuX669E_qw) but to be inspired to be capturing a photograph in the moment, perhaps where you would not be if you didn't have your camera with you.
If you Google Susan Meiselas and you will find a wealth of information, but the following may give you inspiration.
Please be mindful that images of war, violence and nudity are not appropriate for this site, so be judicious in which of her series you take inspiration from.
Start Date - September 13th
End Date - October 25th
In your photograph's narrative do please give a description of how it fits the challenge or give a link to the photograph that you have emulated.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond up to you but i think people will find it difficult , anything with photographs of people and documentary style photography is a real challenge for most
I thought she was an excellent choice, Jackie. As you know, I used to be a farm reporter for a small town newspaper so I was looking forward to actually being able to enter this one. I enjoy street / journalism type photography.
Don't forget to short-list this challenge!
