One reason why I chose her style is that it gives us space to practice candid photography on strangers, but also with our own families and loved ones. Take some time to be a bit sneaky this week! I am looking forward to seeing your candids and your "perfect moments, unnoticed."
Congratulations for winning the challenge Courtney. This looks like a great artist, I'll watch out for scenes to capture this week! I have a feeling @robinwarner will be good at this style!
@emmar84 Thanks, Emma! One reason why I chose her is because we can practice our candid style on strangers, but it also leaves us open to those sneaky photo opps with the ones we love too! I bet you will find lots of Levitt type moments in your own house. Can't wait to see the entries!
@seattle is perfect to participate in this challenge, I was just commenting on her photos two days ago "I really like the way you capture just random moments on the streets"
this is todays upload that fits but is honestly an old picture
here are some other old ones that fit really well (sorry i only use film so its hard to keep up with these competitions so i'm showing old stuff):
and to put a twist on it here are some of the poor children in india:
sorry for so many pictures, i just got really excited about this artist and wanted to participate even though i couldnt because im doing a different project with my film and i cant switch (i know i don't qualify for the actual competition)
Congratulations Courtney! I like your choice. I hadn't heard of this photographer and although I'm on the road visiting family this week, I hope to follow your link and read more about her. If I can catch up with everything once I get home, I'm sure I'll have some wonderful family candids to share. Afterall, I am visiting my grandson!!
Oh well done, love this challenge. Hope I'll have some fun with it. Made this one in July, think it's the style we are looking for, so I like to show it for some insperation! Have fun all!
I just looked at all you will have to review and do not envy you. Coming up with the top ten abstracts was grueling and I had to leave so many people off.
@brumbe Yeah, I am NOT looking forward to having to choose. I can see why someone once said they thought about quitting 365 because of running something like this. Tough choices! Love your entries! Keep em coming!!
@cfitzgerald I actually had my lovely assistant (mother) start the cull since she was not connected. I then took her list and went from there. I bet your mom would jump to help out.
@cfitzgerald - this challenge is right up my street! (pun intended...) but it's going to be difficult for me this week to get these kind of shots :( still, i'll set it as my own challenge sometime...i'd never heard of Levitt either, so thanks for bringing her work to my attention!
@cfitzgerald I know I'm probably too late in posting this Courtney, but I wanted you to see that I did get a shot off for you! I couldn't post pictures while I was in Michigan, and my past few days have been spent traveling and catching up at home. I still want to read the info on Helen Levitt sometime. So, for now, here's my candid take on life in a soccer coach's home (starring my son and grandson!).
I am not sure how Levittish these are, but I have a couple of photos to share - they are too old for the challenge, but I do hope it's okay that I post them here. I still reek of noobiness. :)

@ukdanae Yay! I'm excited to see your sneaky shots!
@olivetreeann Perfect opportunity! Yay! so glad you will play too!
Love this theme Courtney! Her work is GREAT!
