Since you are reading this post, you probably participate in challenges and have an opinion about them. Your input would be greatly appreciated so please weigh in and give your thoughts either here or on the original post.
While the Weekly SH*T list only lists the ending date of the current challenges, please go through the discussion board to find challenges to be voted on. Voting can be just as important as participation and is generally the most fun and exciting part of the challenges.
I also find that there are a ton of interesting topics to be found on the discussion board that I do not mention in the SH*T list such as Flash Back Fridays and opportunities to post your favourite Fav’s and other photos. Please go back a couple of pages through the Discussion board to find these gems that might get buried quickly when there is a lot of activity on the Discussion board.
Don’t forget to hit the link to check out the details of any challenges you are considering in case I may have messed up the dates or such.
@farmreporter Thank you for this handy info!
I’m a big fan of the Minimalist, Abstract, Macro, EOTB and Mundane challenges.
Maybe the Abstract Mundane could stop, considering there is already the Abstract challenge.
thanks as always wendy for your time in keeping this list up to date
we haven't had a six word story in a while. @jocasta, i think you won the last round! are you okay to host a new one? if not i'd be happy to resurrect it :)
@stimuloog
Thanks for your comments! Very much appreciated.
The winner of the tag challenge was just announced a couple of days ago but has not been resurrected yet.
@farmreporter Thanks for posting the weekly challenges and for prompting this discussion. Personally I like the challenges as something I can do if I am stuck for inspiration. I only take part in the ones which I want to do, and don't feel obliged to do them every time, I just use them as prompts for the days when I'm running low on inspiration!
The ones I like are B&W, 52 wk challenge, technique challenge as they do prompt me to try new/different things. I also like the official weekly theme and do try to take part in that each week.
Not so keen on the mundane challenges as the item you have to shoot is so specific. Have done the tag challenge once, but not sure I'll do it again for that reason. I'm not keen on SWOL as I prefer to be intentional with my phtoography. The WWYD/Album challenges don't fit with the type of photography I do.
I like the Street & Landscape themes but wish they had a theme each time, to help stimulate inspiration. E.g. a B&W street photo, a rule of thirds Landscape photo, etc.
I enjoy the 5+2 selfie themes but wish they had voting for the entries so there was a winner!
Agree with some of the comments above and on the other thread that the shorter challenges are best. I do wish that somehow there could be a section on the forums where there is a page for each challenge which shows all the entries and then the voting/winner.
I like the challenges, but (although I know I can search for the answer) I never know what all the acronyms mean. I sometimes don't have time to search for the meanings, so I don't bother taking part. Please could we have a sub tab in the themes and competitions folder that explain them all? Or write the ancronym out in full in the subject heading so it's easy to understand without the need to search. Thanks!!
@ginaanderson thanks for mentioning @fiveplustwo. have enjoyed all your self portraits so far. often there are only a few extra entries and we liked the point of difference of it not being a competition, believing it took any pressure off people who might be reluctant selfie takers... it would also be difficult managing voting with a weekly turnaround of themes
@emma78
I do the Weekly SH*T list (So Happy It's Thursday) where I compile all the current challenges with their ending date. I do write out the full name of the challenge there.
Also, the link is on this list so it is easy to click on that link to go to the challenge page where there is a complete profile of the challenge along with the rules.
So glad to see you participating in challenges ... now you can do more! LOL!
I think it would be a good idea if the regular challenges such as Landscape, EOTB, Street and Abstract be started from the date that the previous one closes as this would enable more people to enter. I am useless at dates and have taken images with challenges in mind only to realise that it was taken in the time that no challenges were being held.
@nzkites
I know what you mean! I am forever going back to check the dates of things!

@farmreporter When I need inspiration for shooting I check your weekly S list. I didn't realize it was always on Thursday so the true meaning of the list has been lost on me until today! :-)
I generally pick and choose which challenges to participate in and sometimes shoot too late or miss the posting date, but it's still fun to participate.
I enjoy the challenges and usually try to combine with the month of words.
The competitions have introduced me to new skills, genres and people!!
I opt out if going away on holiday as it's a pain to sort next shortlist/theme if away. ( And there's an outside chance I might win - slim but not improbable as has happened twice when on holiday!!)
Love the sh#t list, thanks for keeping up this thread you started!! 🌟

oops - thank you for the reminder - I've been away and it had completely slipped my mind. I'll get it started this evening.

Thanks for all you do, Wendy.
