Thanks for all the late entries to my challenge. There was a lot of creativity in the entries. The requirement for using public domain historical images was stretched in a few cases. I decided to let that pass. These composites probably meet the "fair use" requirements of copyright law. Some entrants stretched the meaning of history a bit too. I wasn't as lenient in that requirement.
Now, on to voting. I'd like to try something a little different. My state recently had a ballot referendum on ranked-choice voting. It failed, but I favor it. So, when voting for your favorites, you can vote for as many as you like, but be sure to vote for them in order. The first number you list is your first favorite. Show your second choice second, and so on. You may vote for just one if you like, or you can vote for them all.
The algorithm works like this: I first count up the first choice votes. If anyone gets more than 50%. That artist is the winner. If no one holds the majority, I remove the entry that received the fewest first-place votes. The second-place votes from those voters get promoted to first. I continue this algorithm until an entry gets a majority. Now that I've explained it, I think I understand why the ballot initiative failed. It's a little confusing to explain. I'll include a complete audit of the voting when it finishes.
