The Dutch are famous for there battle against the sea and their water management. Last century we created huge areas of new land (Flevoland) in the Zuiderzee, now called IJsselmeer. Paid by Marshall plan after WWII. Last decennium we created new islands for nature reasons in the same IJsselmeer: Marker Wadden. With a group of colleagues we visited the 4-years old land. Unbelievable how many flowers and types of birds we saw! Including Pied avocet, Ruff and many Bearded reedlings.
