Two days ago, my son, daughter in law, grandson and I went kayaking. I had to specially buy a dry bag so my camera would be safe from the salty splashes, although this made it tricky for photographs because I had to stop, put my paddle in a safe place and then get the camera out of the dry bag before being able to take a photo. It was a fun excursion. This stop was under a pohutukawa tree that was right down to the water. I was in a sea kayak which was longer and a bit less manoeuvrable.

I know it was a bit brave!! I actually lost a camera in sea water a couple of years ago - getting out of a boat I tripped over and landed in the water. Cameras don't much like sea water!! However, this was something I really wanted to do and it worked out well.
