Adirondack Chair by dkellogg

Adirondack Chair

Just finished chair #3 of a 4 set to put around a fire pit. Now to figure out what color to paint them.
Oh they are beautiful! Can't you just stain them and add a polyurethane coating for weather? The wood grain is so pretty!

You've done a great job with these!

@marlboromaam Thanks Mag. I like the natural look of the wood grain also, and this cedar wood would pop with some poly on it. But I counter sunk the screws and filled the holes with wood filler instead of real wood plugs and glue. The wood filler doesn’t stain well and to me it would look weird. So I will use a good exterior paint that will hold up to some brutal weather. I’ve made several of these chairs and some day I’ll use wood plugs and stain the chair to show off the wood grain.

Holy guaccamole!!! That is a remarkable work. Congratulations! You have all my admiration. I love handywork. Perhaps because it is so scarce these days.
You are right: that filler looks a bit strange. Isn't there a way to darken its colour a bit? Then it would not pop up so strongly and uou could use just a transparent lacquer/varnish. The look of that wood is astonishing.

You have done an excellent job with this chair. I used to be a woodworking fanatic but have given up the hobby now. I like the design here.

@dkellogg In that case... a nice forest green to match the oaks. =)
