" I WANT TICKETS!!!" by dmrams

" I WANT TICKETS!!!"

Two of my students from my 4th and 5th period class were kind enough to pose for today's picture. I knew that "G" would be perfect because he is VERY funny and dramatic and "A" , well, she's just a sweetheart!! :)

Now to explain the picture....For several years, I have used tickets to help with classroom management and my students LOOOOVE it!! First, they receive a ticket from me as I greet them at the door and then throughout the class period they can earn more tickets for various reasons: having their homework, participating in class discussions, having their supplies, and for staying on task when working on assignments. Eash time they receive a ticket they sign the back of it and leave it on their desk. Their goal is to earn as many tickets as they can during the week. Students can also lose tickets--if they are late to class, or don't have the needed supplies, they don't get a ticket. Also, if they are missing any assignments they cannot get ANY tickets until the work is turned in to me. If a student is off task, or if they don't follow a classroom rule, I will take away their tickets. At the end of each class period a student collects the tickets and I draw 3-4 names and they select a piece of candy out of the container!! You would think they were getting money because they get soooo excited when their name is drawn!! :) This really works for me and the kids will do whatever they can for tickets!! I rarely have tardies or missing assignments!! Just thought I would document what I do every day in my classes....and I really enjoy involving my students in my pictures!! :)
Looks like a fun bunch. they will feel proud knowing that they will become popular here on 365.

Who would ever know that G was dramatic by that pose...haha. Sounds like a very effective system. Love that you wont give any tickets until all work is handed in!

Good idea! I did somethign with tickets in my student teaching class but they collected them and used them to "buy" things a few times each quarter. I like your plan better because it is more immediate gratification for them. Great shot too!
