9.18 Eulalia Christiana

Another picture from my visit to the National Gallery of Modern Art. This is a gypsum from 1880 representing the martyr Eulalia. I did not know anything about her, but her martyrdom was truly dreadful... The statue is amazing, however.
A beautiful photograph

Highly evocative, especially more so when viewed on black. Great shot.

@snowy thank you very much!
@photohoot thank you, Wendy! Credits to the sculptor... the story is pure horror.
@wag864 thank you! I always forget to suggest background preferences...

I found the story, it is terrible, how cruel they were to her. I find his image you took very poignant.

Her hands alone are so expressive, so agonised. Great shot.

@365street man is the worst of the beasts, all the more when he hides evil behind religion.
@helenm2016 you are so true. I find the statue so "photographic": the author caught 1/125' of terrible pain as if he held a camera.

Nothing compared to the real deal... sad.

@s4sayer thanks to you, Margo. An horror story, Eulalia's one. I am not surprised that it intrigued liberty artists...
