The GGG (aka Mount Pulchiana)

August 15 in Italy is a holiday and it is traditionally in the middle of the summer vacation, when the whole country shuts down and spends the morning cooking for a big fat lunch with family and friends. As we are rather unconventional, we went instead for a hike near this wonderful mountain. Mount Pulchiana is an inselberg (or monadrock) whose peculiarity is of being a monolith, the biggest all over Europe, formed during the Carboniferous period, about 340 millions year ago. From this side, it looks like a chubby giant's face.
And we had wild blackberries for lunch!
Nice composition!

I had some wild blackberries today...yet without the hike and the heat. Splendid rock...with an interesting nose.

The "BFG" (Big Friendly Giant) was one of my son's favorites as a child. Great shot.

what a beautiful sky to pair off with the peculiar looking rocks. but where is the self portrait? that'd been way cool for you to have got one, say à la Mapplethorpe right there in the middle of the path! aces!
