Parents' house by domenicododaro

Parents' house

Before falling victim of the 2019 flu, I managed to take a few shots of the place where I was raised (from 4 to 18). Lovely place, that has seen better days...
I am so so so sad that you have the flu!!! What an ending to your year. But at least you are resting at your childhood home, and I hope you are gaining strength as you rest. The lines make such interesting angles that move the eye upward in this capture.

That looks a lovely setting. I think that it would also fit right in, here in Southern California. Thank you for sharing your memories. I do hope that you recover from your flu quite rapidly. If you need a reason to feel fortunate, you can celebrate the fact that it is the 2019 flu and NOT the 1919 flu from which you suffer.

@jyokota Thank you so much, Junko. Now recovering, I hope... An appropriate ending to such a difficult year!
@mbrutus Thank you very much! As a matter of fact, I very much appreciate the fact I'm living 100 years after, either for the Spanish flu, either considering the five years before the Spanish flu, either considering what would happen four years after...
@vignouse Thanks, but it's the magic of photography, believe me...
@yaorenliu Thank you a lot, I'm recovering, slowly but recovering...

II missed this one and its reference to flu. I hope you are well on the road to recovery. Proper 'flu is a serious illness and movement can be very difficult. So you are excused for being absent from 365 for a few days.. good to see you back and hope you aren't doing too much too soon.

@yrhenwr oh, thank you! Luckily it was just a few days high fever and headache, not much more. I am now traveling back to Rome because I am obliged to go to work tomorrow. It’s work not the flu keeping me away from 465, actually... thanks for your welcome back!

Lovely photos of your childhood home! It will always hold a special place in your heart, so thanks for sharing it with us. Sorry you're ill. I hope you recover quickly. All the best to you in the coming year, Domenico!

@juliedduncan Yes, after all these years I know it will. Thank you for your good thoughts, Julie, and a 2019 full of accomplished wishes to you, too!

Ditto my comment on the other angle...

Returning to a childhood home is very difficult, no matter what condition it is in. So much to process. Best wished for a brand new year.

I find the front of this house fascinating - especially after reading the later post. It reminds me very much of a family home built by a swiss friend of our family, near Zurich. It would have been our family home, if my mother had not defied expectations and fallen for my father instead. But then again it wouldn't, because we wouldn't have been us either!

@domenicododaro I am so sorry you were sick with the flu for Christmas! I really do hope you were able to sleep it off. 2019 is coming and I hope it brings you a more calm year. :) Meanwhile, you grew up in a beautiful, fascinating house!!! Lovely sets of stairs!!!

@helenhall sliding doors... thank you!
@kerosene thank you my friend. It could be beautiful and fascinating... in the end it was just home. And for a while, living there was also oppressing and frustrating - but isn’t it the same for most teenagers?
