2016.01.14: I always enjoy watching Red-bellied Woodpeckers in my yard ...They seem like such inquisitive "big kids" with such an easy-going disposition!
Great capture! We never see two of these together. Usually just see the female at the deck railing. What a rare sighting! I wonder if they are brothers.
Thanks, everyone! I very, very rarely see two red-bellied woodpeckers together; when I do, I don't know how to tell which is male and which is female. I have seen five Northern flickers at one time, and we have a Downy woodpecker couple that lives in or near or yard ...I enjoy watching all types of woodpeckers!
Mr and Mrs I see! Great to see the two together. I've had a pair but they rarely were in the yard at the same time. Ours are pretty skittish though. If they detect movement in the house, off they go! Great shot!
So lucky to have them!!! Last year was my first year that the big Woody Woodpeckers came to the feeder and the year before it was the small ones that I can't remember their names!! LOL You're even luckier to get a pair of them. Mine only came one at a time!! Awesome details and POV!! FAV!

The red crown on the male will go from back of neck to beak. The female basically only has red on the neck area. See here for more information: http://identify.whatbird.com/obj/686/overview/Red-bellied_Woodpecker.aspx
